Anyway, since I'm a lazy butt, I'm going to steal the criteria Mr. Davi Awesome uses!
The Sections of the Reviews
- Gameplay- This is the section where I talk about a quest's gameplay, such as if the quest uses new items, enemies, or even scripts. This section will also include the flow of a quest as a whole, creativity, and difficulty balancing.
- Story- This is the section where I talk about a quest's settings and other aspects of a story. This section will also include an analysis on the story and how well it was written. Keep in mind that having no story doesn't affect your quest's rating.
- Design Attention- This is the section where I talk about a quest's visual appearance through its graphics, and other aspects such as the design of the overworld and dungeons and even diversity. Screen bugs will be talked about here.
- Music- This is the section where I talk about how well a quest used music and sound effects to enhance the gameplay. Keep in mind that having the regular NES music will not affect your quest's rating.
- Concluding Thoughts/Summary- This is the section where I combine everything I've talked to into a small and short summary. I will list the strengths and weaknesses of the quest. This section also includes the ratings that the quest receives.
Note: The story and music of a quest don't affect the score that a quest receives as much as gameplay and design attention do. This doesn't mean that your score won't change - an amazing story and amazing music or a horrible story and horrible music can affect your score substantially.
Rating (out of 10)
- 10 (Masterpiece)- A quest has to be almost perfect to achieve this score. It has to be a masterpiece, essentially. Not only does the quest creator have to deliver a perfect balance of gameplay -- in terms of creativity and difficulty flow -- but overall highly solid, stunning screen design.
- 9.0-9.9 (Amazing)- A quest that receives this score is very highly recommended even though it is not 100% flawless. The quest creator has to deliver an almost perfect balance of gameplay and screen design that looks great. Obvious effort has been put into this quest and it does something to be remembered easily.
- 8.0-8.9 (Great)- A quest that receives this score is highly recommended. Even though this quest isn't literally WOW-quality, that quest creator still has to show great balance of gameplay and great screen design with minimal bugs.
- 7.0-7.9 (Good)- To achieve this score, the quest creator has to show that effort was put into the quest. The gameplay and screen design are good, but don't exactly WOW the player in any way. While there are better quests, a quest with this score is still somewhat recommended.
- 6.0-6.9 (Okay)- A quest with this score isn't good, but it isn't bad either. It's just slightly above average. The gameplay and screen design of the quest aren't necessarily bad, but they could be improved. More effort would have helped this quest to achieve a greater score.
- 5.0-5.9 (Mediocre)- A quest with this score is perfectly average -- it's not amazing but not terrible either. The gameplay of this quest is rather bland and maybe repetitive, and the screen design may not have enough detail. Bugs in the quest are not excessive, but there are a few sprinkled around.
- 4.0-4.9 (Bad)- A quest with this score may have a few good things about it, but the bad things outreach them. The gameplay is rather boring, and the screen design may have serious problems. Some effort and beta testing is obvious, but not as much as it should be.
- 3.0-3.9 (Awful)- A quest with this score is pretty bad. The quest is poorly executed at best, and the gameplay and screen design are bad and even boring. Bugs may impede the player frequently. This game is not enjoyable most of the time.
- 2.0-2.9 (Terrible)- A quest with this score shows obvious signs of almost no effort. While this quest is still beatable to some degree, the entire journey is infuriating or even perhaps insulting in some way. The gameplay and screen design are absolutely terrible.
- 1.0-1.9 (Unbearable)- A quest with this score is most likely achievable only if the quest creator tries to do this badly, as it is extremely horrible. Not only are the gameplay and screen design absolutely horrendous, but the quest is littered with bugs. While still beatable to some degree, the quest is so horrible and annoying that it may make you want to bang your head against a wall.
- 0.0-0.9 (Disaster)- One of the worst quests ever created. There is absolutely nothing good about the quest at all. A quest with this magnitude of badness is not only a complete disaster, but so bad that the quest creator must have tried to do badly. The quest is most likely unbeatable due to the substantial amount of bugs and shown no signs of beta testing and/or effort.
After I give out the rating out of 10 points, I divide and round to get the following scores, which is what would be given if I made the review in the review section of a quest in the database.
- 5 (Amazing)
- 4 (Good)
- 3 (Okay)
- 2 (Bad)
- 1 (Terrible)
- 0 (Disaster)
