I submitted the best thing for SotW 488

Just a bit of a small update, but we've created a new, more up-to-date Screenshot of the Week Rules and Info thread. Much of it is the same as before, only updated to reflect the more current state of SotW and PureZC's rules; the old thread made mention of some aspects of both that are no longer relevant.

 

Also of note that I feel is worth mentioning here as well, Screenshot of the Month's format is changing. Previously, it used to occur after four contests, encompassing those four into one contest. I believe I may have accidentally made a mistake along the line, as apparently the old system might have been that Screenshot of the Year occurs after twelve SotM's, not just at a yearly date; this year's SotY will have 13 contestants, for instance. So, to make SotY a yearly event, and also to add a little more sense to the name Screenshot of the Month, SotM contests will now occur on the first Sunday of every month, encompassing the winners of the previous month's SotW contests. These twelve winners will then move on to compete in SotY, a winner for every true month, not some four-week period.

 

Speaking of, Sunday's SotM contest happens to coincide with this new plan, as it happens to occur both after a fourth SotW and on the first Sunday on January. So in a strange way it's both the last contest to follow the old format, and the first to follow the new format. And the week after, the 11th, Screenshot of the Year begins! Nicklegends and I have cooked up a few plans to hopefully make this one engrossing and fun for all, so we hope you enjoy it!

 

As far as Sunday's SotW, #489, we have enough shots to start the contest, but that doesn't mean you can't still submit! Let's start SotW off with a bang in 2015, much like how it ended!

I've went ahead and put up Screenshot of the Week 490 a little bit earlier than I normally would, mostly to tide you guys over until Screenshot of the Year in a little bit, as soon as nicklegends is on and we're able to coordinate this. So get excited for that!

 

In the meantime, I'd like to make a friendly notice regarding gif images, since we've had at least one in each of the last three contests: Please only use them to show off some sort of specific animation, and make their file size as small as possible. While we accept animated gifs, generally they tend to be simple gifs, complex ones being incredibly rare and, in certain cases, unneeded. Usually, it's because they end up being way larger than we'd like. So take note of this in the future, even if this is just a random burst and gifs don't see a sudden surge in regularity.
