The sun rises on the land of Hojo, and Link, the heir to a fallen emperor, must escape death. His grandpa sends him to the far away land of Hyrule through a portal. Expecting to find lush fields and sunny skies, Link ends up in a wasteland. It seems that the great Hyrule his grandpa described to him is not reality. He must now find a way to survive in this new world, and find a way to return home and save his family when he is ready.

At least nine dungeons are planned, each with a key item and a unique custom boss. The game will be non-linear, but there will be several story elements that will direct the player on where to go and how they should be best prepared. The overworld is planned to be the same size as Zelda 1's.
