Hyrule's Awakening by runa

 

 

 

Very awesome Link's Awakening style quest built to be a Zelda 1 remake. It's extremely creative with how it uses GB restrictions and definitely quite underrated.

Runa's quests are a treat, and this one seems both like a fun time and the perfect palate cleanser for the sheer length of January's QC. This one should both be exciting as well as a fun and chill time.

As always, a Discord thread can be found here. If there is a day you would prefer I host instead of the usual streaming time, let me know, and I will see if I can fill out a time slot there instead.

keep in mind this quest is more like a "proof-of-concept" so its super jank.
Hopefully it will at least be inspiring lol.

This quest is also on the line to get a full on remake at some point, using newer scripts and features to make it even closer to a GB experience. Tho I have no clue when this will be lol, probably in like year 2067.

I had forgotten all about this quest, but it still plays great. For a "proof-of-concept", this is very good. I think the main thing that made it slip my mind is the similarity to Link's Awakening and Zelda 1, which make for a less lasting memory overall. But the fusion of those two games' ideas is still very cool.

Playing this has brought a smile to my face many times.  Really cool to see the small touches like being able to jump from the top of the entrance to level 4, just as in level 4 of Link's Awakening.

Noted on the "jank" & proof-of-concept -- though so far (~2 hours as of level 5) there's been nothing that's super-broken or game breaking for me.

 

Cool to see the early owl statue "levels have no set order".

Can't seem to find a candle, and that's halted my progress on level 2.  I jumped over the swamp flowers to enter level 2, which probably wasn't intended, but there's a candle puzzle at the top of level 2 that's blocking my progress to what I assume is the bracelet.  I'm sure I'll find the candle eventually.
