These are fairly open-ended and incomplete questions. Make your choices as if you had to choose your area of expertise to complete a team where roles would be assigned eventually, and don't hesitate to be specific, whether it's to specify how you feel you take pleasure in creating a game, in developing it or in what you'd like people to see when they play your game... or just the things you specifically look out for when you play a game, what stimulates you the most.

you can post to indicate your choices, it's interesting
I'd forgotten that votes were anonymous, but my aim was to let people know where they stand on the spectrum of preferences.

Pretty fun topic - I tend to prioritize the quest looking good, since I love designing the visual of areas (both OW and Dungeon). The gameplay is more of a second step for me, so I tend to worry about dungeon layouts and core gameplay twists after already designing how the area is meant to look!

When I'm playing a quest though, I tend to enjoy it when a quest throws a tough puzzle at me, but I also really want a quest to have a decent story.

I love overworlds and exploration, and everything beyond. If there's exploration, there must be some incentive to do it. That means a dungeon must be found, or at least leading to some reward or progression.

Challenges must be overcome, as the exploration is not just the exploration of the game, but the exploration of your own patience, abilities and personality (deeeeep). I tend to prefer puzzle challenges more, as I found out I'm too slow for combat challenges and easily frustrated by them.

And nothing's better than exploring an immersive world. That includes fitting graphics, fitting sound design, and a fitting story. I don't like games that have a lot of story with too many cutscenes myself, it's too passive and I get bored by it easily.

Now the programming I sometimes enjoy, but the problem is that it's also my full time job and I can't get myself to do much of it outside work hours normally. I try only to do the bare minimum with that part.

So for me, exploration ties all these elements together: the exploration is not worth it if the things you'll find aren't fun, interesting or challenging. And I think what I like the most about it are the surprises, things you didn't expect to find. Even if it's just an obscure shortcut I'm really excited by that.
