We decided to take December off due to how busy the month was, but we're back now! Now it's time to start 2025 off with...
The Legend of Zelda Tower of Courage by Flying Fish and boltfox20

The Triforce has been shattered into fragments and scattered across the world beyond Hyrule. Link has set off on a journey to recover the fragments before Gannon does or Hyrule falls into ruin. One of Link stops is a strange and mystical kingdom of Juno and discovers that some of the fragments of the Triforce has fallen here and sets off to recover them. This is the first quest released by Boltfox 20 and Flying Fish.

A very fun and well-designed quest

This strikes me as a very normal modern quest, and honestly kind of reminds me of a lot of quests I would play when I was younger. Honestly quite a good one to get the year kicked off!

The discord thread for the quest can be found here. Looking forward to discussion about this one.

Gonna be uploading videos of my playthroughs of quest club quests moving forward in the event that there's things I wanna illustrate.

Played up to end of Level 1. Honestly a very strong start. The theming of the first dungeon is pretty great and the vibe of the quest's design was set pretty clearly, making it very clear to the player that the lantern was both required and obtained outside of the dungeon itself. I felt rewarded for exploration quite a bit.

My only mild critique so far (which might be resolved in the mid-to-late game) is money, in the sense that it's in pretty massive abundance. By the end of the first dungeon, I already had 255 rupees twice over.

All in all, it's a very fun quest so far. I look forward to playing more.

I tried my hand at the minigame in town and completed level 2. Today's session was a lot shorter because I was feeling under the weather today.

The minigame is fun, though I was a little saddened to see the third round essentially just be a damage check, since Leever 3 is a very funky enemy to balance around.

Level 2 meanwhile? It's neat. Once again, I like a lot of the ideas employed, albeit I certainly feel it's not nearly as strong as level 1. Block puzzles with more than just pushing is becoming a lot more common with modern ZC, and this is a pretty solid example, using pots you have to choose to slash or not slash and push accordingly. Between that, is a number of puzzles however, with very poor visual indicators, saved by the fact that they're still easy puzzles in the first place. This is a critique I hope doesn't ring true for future dungeons, because even though it's not too much of an issue here, having that issue with more complex puzzles could become a significant problem.

I'm still enjoying my time quite a bit so far and look forward to playing more.

Just a note about this game, playing in 2.55.8, I encountered a bug where the fire wand does not trigger the lamps.  For a while, I was able to get by timing the projectiles with the flying enemies to get the fire to land on the right tile and trigger, but at Tower Floor 7, the game becomes borderline impossible, in a room where you have to do that 4 times.  You can observe the correct behavior in Melee Wizard's LP at 26:58 here: https://youtu.be/v1K...e=shared&t=1618
