Hi everyone! It's been a minute since we've done one of these, so I thought I'd inform everyone on a few changes that the other administrators and I have been working on behind the scenes!
#serious-discussion guidelines
Following an incident in the #serious-discussion channel last week, we ask that all contributions to the serious-discussion channel honour the channel's intent; to be a thoughtful, constructive place for discussion surrounding our lives outside ZC. This means that accelerationist, pessimistic, or otherwise non-constructive contributions, as well as personal attacks that are made ad hominem, are not welcome.
If this is not followed, then further action will occur where necessary; you may be restricted from the serious-discussion channel as a result.
#staff-dropbox channel
Following feedback from the community, we now have a channel for users to submit any queries or issues on the PureZC Discord server. The dropbox functions exactly the same as its forum equivalent, so the same rules and guidelines apply across both.
Fall Expo closed
The Fall Expo has been closed and archived. Thank you to everyone who submitted, gave feedback, or played any of the quests or demos!

Screenshot of the Week has ebbed and flowed this year, and ahead of 2025 it'd be great to hear what the community thinks about the current format of PureZC's longest running contest, and whether it should be moved back to a weekly cycle! If you're willing, head over to the feedback thread and share your thoughts there.
Derisory Substance returns
For anyone that's been here a really, really long time (or gone away and come back again), Derisory Substance was probably one of, if not the, most infamous parts of PureZC in the heady days of the 2000s. Its sole purpose: who really knows? It existed as a spam forum in the times before Twitter and Discord meme channels were ever a thing - from when I signed up, I think I spent more time in there than I did in any other forum until its demise in 2008. It's been raised that the 20th year anniversary is this month, and as such, Derisory Substance has returned - for now. As was initially posted by Ben on its closure in 2008:
The forum may come back, but not for a very, very long time, as it has been proven that certain people cannot handle it.
Hopefully it's been long enough. The return of this forum may be temporary - at least until the end of the year - but if it doesn't collapse into a mess, then it might have a chance of sticking around longer than that.
Finally, just a reminder that while the export Quest Package feature in ZC (and the accompanying .exe file) is convenient for non-ZC users, these files do pose security risks and are not allowed for submission on the quest database. If you do submit a quest with an .exe file, you will be contacted by staff asking you to submit the .qst file instead. It will not be published on the database until the correct file is submitted!
