I think everybody who designs a quest has a raising and lowering the water-level dungeon they have to get out of their system. This one was mine. The choice of music that you liked; SCKnuckles, was a fortuitous accident.

The one complaint I have about it is that it feels artificially lengthened, because to get the items; you have to go through certain parts of the dungeon three times. I've considered putting in a shortcut warp which will make the transition between the two items easier, but I've never gotten around to it.

We're in the final stretch now. 3 dungeons, 1 heart piece, 1 crystalline flame and 1 crystalline flame reward to go! Part of me is wondering whether or not you're ever going to get around to spending all those rupees...

I believe you mean Temple of Seasons or some such.

In case it isn't obvious, each floor of this temple resembles the design of the corresponding dungeon with a Season gem in it. There's also a lot of recurring bosses in this and the next area. (In fact, I believe I reused every boss in the game at least once and some... more so.)

There are still some unfixed design flaws here, including the ability to enter the area where you need the Magic Book before you have it.

You also completely missed the fact that after you get the Roc's Feather, you can return to the first floor; then go back to the entrance and shortcut directly to the area where you need it.

The infamous Kholdstare script bug appears at last! I still can't believe it took me over a year to get rid of that problem.

With the level 4 sword in hand, the end of the Crystalline Flame quest and it's reward are in sgiht. Also, if you failed to spend the max rupees you have; you're in for disappointment inside Onox's Castle.

Well, at least no else will be stymied by the Kholdstare bug...

The level 5 sword is something I'm including in all the quests in this series and you're right, it should have had penetrating beams. So I changed that. For reference, it is twice as powerful as the level 4 sword and always shoots beams.

Though the Pegasus Fruit/Boots was a really late addition to this quest, I liked it enough to bring it back for Part 2; albeit much earlier. It's one of four items in the last dungeon, of which you obtained 2 on your first visit. Also, that last heart piece originally required a different item found later in the dungeon, but I changed it because it made more sense to use the level-2 glove.

The draining rupee trick is something that I've already fixed, but no worries! There's plenty of money to get the last item in the shop left in the game, along with a convenient way to reach it. :D

I'm really staring to learn towards a full update to this with actual scripted bosses and a second ending sequence for those who get everything since doing that severely decreases the difficulty of finishing the quest. We'll just have to wait and see how long that takes...

The end of the road is at hand...

Edit: While you failed to get the last item from the shop, it isn't necessary to beat the game. It was just the biggest bomb bag.

After watching you go thru the dungeon and be forced to redo all those puzzles; SCKnuckles; two features are being added. The first is a Golden Arrow check near the beginning of the dungeon with a sign telling you of the need to collect them. That way, somebody doesn't get halfway in and suddenly realize that they need them.

The second is permanent block puzzles. Previously, I'd been unable to get the database script to work and when I had the same problem with the sequel to this; I ended up scripting my own solution to this dilemma. I just hadn't bothered to add it in before now.

Edit 2: In case it isn't completely obvious, I really enjoy those path puzzles and I'm pretty good at making them. As for ice block puzzles, that's coming in part 3.

In my own personal opinion, Onox is something of a joke whenever you have the level 5 sword and the permanently active whimsical ring you get from the trading quest. One of the many reasons I'm considering a revamped version of this quest with actual scripted bosses.

While the return to Hyrule is definitely in the realm of post-game content; it is also rather short. I believe you have at most 10 minutes of gameplay left. But that brief interval is in itself an intro to part 2, where I finally learned how to script things and included nearly twice as many secrets as in part one.

The purpose of this ending sequence is to introduce the player to some mechanics seen in the sequel, Passage Through Time.

I'm very glad you liked this quest, SCKnuckles. The low difficulty was deliberate as I've said, because I don't like to play things that are too hard.

I'm not sure how much time I take on an average run, of how often I die; but it looks like you did fairly well.

And I'm already hard at work on a revamped version of this quest, with scripted bosses just about everywhere.  :bounce:

Thanks for taking the time to do an LP of my quest!
