Is there an unpassworded version of the first quest floating around that uses the newest 2.5.x layout for its combos? I want to make a small 6th Quest type thing. If this does not exist, I might go ahead and create it myself since I can't see it taking more than a few solid hours to rebuild the game from maps (said nobody ever).

I know there are older example quests out there, but they don't follow the combo layout of the newest default Classic set.

Thanks. :)

You could always just ask a mod to get you an unpassworded version. I can't imagine it would be a problem considering other 1st quest variants have been left unpassworded.

Yeah, I can get it for you. Just give me a sec.

Edit: Heh, funny. The version that comes with ZC isn't the 2.5 version. Damn. Here's the unpassworded version, though:

Thanks guys :)

I have decided to remake it my self. I'm already almost done redrawing the overworld lol. I actually think I already have a version like that. I basically want Zelda 1 with all the new tiles. I'll show you guys what I mean when I finish it and make it public for anyone who wants it. I am also using "1stexample.qst" to get the enemies, strings, and all that other fun stuff translated. I can't believe I'm almost done drawing an entire overworld in a little over two hours :P

In this screen, you can see all the new combos. This is also the version of Classic that is tile-for-tile compatible with Koten, which will come into play with this a little later.

I think you can export the maps from any old unpassworded 1st quest and import it into the newer classic tileset.

But... if he exports it from, the combo setup may vary. Especially if he wants to work with the 2.5 set. :P

I finished the overworld. If you take a look, you can see what I mean by "2.5" tiles when compared to other example quests :)

EDIT: All caves, d-maps, shops, and pretty much everything for the overworld is now done. All enemies are placed too. Level 1 is also done. Check it out if you want, it's coming along. Now to finish up the dungeons. Lol, remember that time I made Z1 in like 18 hours? I sure don't.

My goal here is to make a replica of the first game that will be completely unpassworded and use/ have access to the new tiles in the new Classic included with 2.5.2. I will be making an 'authentic' 1st and 2nd quest in Classic, and Koten which means it will be a rule-for-rule remake of the NES game. There will be another version with updates, and changes that make it smoother (most of the NES fixes for example). These will hopefully help people learn, and see how stuff is set up in the first quest. Once that is all done, I will be working on my own '3rd quest' type thing, but the overworld will be modified too. Probably gonna make a project thread for it, since I'll need testers either tomorrow, or the day after. I plan on releasing the 1st and 2nd quest before my 3rd quest.

You forgot to use the narrow water tiles 2.5 has for 1 combo thick water. :P

I thought about that, but decided to go with the 'incorrect' original way for this version. It will be one of those things that is fixed in the modern version though.

Just a quick update. Levels 1-4 are done, and the over world uses the correct cset now so the water shows up right in Koten. I'm making a list of minor tweaks to include in Koten such as corrected dungeon doors, and link's ring csets. I might make a project page when I get home from work, I'm not doing it on my phone from the break room :P

EDIT: Project page. There's not a ton if info there yet, but more will come as I get closer to being done.
