Hey there, a few things I need your help or opinion with. I am actually reworking three old quests as my starting ino ZC and I have a few issues with it I couldn't find a solution yet (http://www.purezc.ne...projects&id=318).

1.) Midis:

They are actually great but is there a way to export them? I am copying the maps one by one into DoR and rework them there and add anything else manually, but so far I have no idea how to get the midis.

2.) Palettes:

a - The first Quest is unproblematic, the 2nd uses Palettes similiar to DoR, but the 3rd uses Pure I think and further more the Palettes are costum-made. Honestly, I have no idea how to handle this, especially since tiles used in all Quests are not completly identical (for example similiar palettes like "blue dungeon" have beside a different arrangement of the colours two completly different colours in the different tilesets).

So far this is a easy task hard to explain I would be more than happy if someone could handle this for me.

b - (http://www.purezc.ne...showtopic=67466) I am not completly sure what to choose, just I know I want only darkened rooms, not completly dark (black) rooms. Also the blue for Water in the old quests is far more to my liking than the torquise water in DoR. There seems a way to "Grab Palletes" if I edit a level Pallete, could someone explain to me how it works?

3.) Project:

What exactly have I to do with the open project? I opened it to have a way to get tips and help and therefore I have to give info though I do not exactly know which info... Also not completly sure how to handle the credits since I have a lot to give. Especially since the Quests were created by Akkabus he clearly is the Quest-Creator and I have not really an interest to call out for myself but at the same time since I do not have contact with Akkabus and not all my changes might be in Akkabus interest it should be also wrong to state it is his work.

1.  I had the same problem with Music and Midi's actually - No way to Export them as the same with items.

2.  You should take a Snapshot of your screen where the level looked great before you transfer it and

'grab' the colors from the picture-snapshot and add to an empty black color palette where the colors look great

3.  The Worst thing of all when you transfer maps to other .qst files if you ever messed with the part pieces you use to build your quest with or add newer parts atops others  - it shifts around all the maps pieces in the map you transfer and it looks scattered random and wrong.

The pieces and ID for each part are not precise enough.

4.  I will try to get back to you, on the rest..

1. So Midis seem to be my bihgest hurdle in the end. Since I end testing a lot I realized even the low heart warning starts to be better than just no music.

2. Please what? ;) I do not know how this grab feature works... I tried to snapshot and grab from it but what I got was just messed up....

3. I move the pieces to the positions they need to be. The few left are not really a problem, even if only slightly, I rework any screen anyway. So this is a rather low problem.

4. Thank you for your help

To grab midis you can open the quest in ZC and go to misc->midis (or something like that). From there you can choose a midi and click save to save it to your hard drive.

Also do you have Akkabus' permission to remake his quests? You mentioned you have no contact with him. I know his quests don't have passwords, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can remake them in your image without asking first.

I asked him and still hope to get an answer. If you read the projects description it should be pretty clear that I am aware of that fact.

Maybe a bit insight about my thoughts. First I was just playing around with the quests and really, without his quest as an example there are many things I would have never understood. I also had a few runs where I put a lot of work into it but failed so big starting new was the better solution. To this point this was still working just for me to get into ZC.

Slowly the things I had finally started to work out. Also I rialized that the 2.10-Quests are not completely compatible with 2.50, most items that are "hidden" below layers, especially in big chests, can be grabbed from behind... and that happened more than once without intention. So I came to the decision that it may be worth to post it as a quest here so far it is worthy (if I should ever get it to be playable and the testers would say it is a failure there wouldn't be a reason to post the quest).

Also it is so far still rather playing around, I think someone with knowledge could have done it (worth over a year of work with the quest) in one day... Yeah, I would like it to work out and if it does I would also like to post it. But it is far away from beeing finished and though I don't intend to open an "is that OK"-thread or something like that this thread intends also to get your opinion about reworking someone elses work. The same goes by the way for opening the project. I see it as an option that the community is against it and in that case I will accept the communities decision and the project will be canceled.

Just to have said that, like the Quest-name shows I am not planning to show it off as my work. Also I will clearly state that the quest was made without Akkabus' OK and that the quest might include changes Akkabus would not have liked. I also will highly beg for support from more experienced quest-makers to look over the quest since this is not my work and I want it to be good in respect for Akkabus. Though if this project will ever come this far is a complete different question.

[edit] in the case I seem impudent/cheeky/rude/shameless (not used to negetaive english adjectives), this would be created by my bad wording/spelling since my english is not too good... I might be a bit dumb/bold at some times and don't get always the meaning of your words (since they am in english), but I highly respect others opinions. Just wanted to have said that to avoid unnecessary trouble.
