Recently, I have felt that this quest is way too ambitious. 12 levels, and 6 overworlds?

I have decided to reduce the scale of the Overworld. There is now only a Dark World and a Light World. Both of them are 8x8.

I am actually uncertain about this entire quest. I like the story, but everything I do with it, it feels... wrong. I feel like I am lying to both myself and other people by furthering this quest. Is anybody even excited for this quest, or is this just another concept that will probably end up in the trash?

Yeah, 6 overworlds sounds like a huge hassle. It's better to go with something smaller.

How many quests have you finished so far? In general, you should always start small before getting bigger. Two 8x8 overworlds should be manageable for an average quest.

As for the uncertainty, that's bound to happen. If you're not feeling enthusiastic about your quest, you can put it to the side for a bit and wait until you have a burst of creativity. In the meantime you can just go on a ZC hiatus or start a new, smaller side-project. Just don't try to work on too many projects at once (3 is pushing it).

All of the above comes from my own experience.

idk
if you're having fun, make it
if you ain't having fun, don't make it
definitely don't overthink it though, overthinking things is the death of any creative endeavor

Thanks. I am actually doing a side project at the same time, which is in the classic tileset. I am surprisingly having more fun with that one, so I guess I will continue doing it as it seems to give me inspiration. The only problem with going on a hiatus, is that everybody in the project will be left on their own until I come back, which is not a very good example for me to set.

I agree overthinking things is bad for creativity. Spontaneity goes a long way. I think you're a lot more likely to make good games if you have fun making them. If you have reached a point where you need to design an area and you're not feeling motivated, you should consider dropping that area entirely. Your quest may be shorter because of it but it's better to have a shorter quest where every area was designed with passion and motivation.

Don't worry about feeling less ambitious about your quest. It happens and I think everyone goes through it. You just need a break until inspiration kicks in again. You don't need to go on an official hiatus, but keep working on your side project and every so often open up this one and look through the map or design some screens for fun. Sometimes that's all that's needed to be inspired to do something. Or you can do what I did at times is open it , poke around then close it for the day :P

Thanks for the advice. I think I will continue working on my side project, and work on this atleast once a week. It's a big project, but I am low on inspiration. How would you guys like to know the themes of each of the dungeon's and their names?

Didn't I already tell you, limebeer? XD

Well, considering how all spoilers are going to be non-existent when the quest releases (LP's and reviews), I might as well reveal some now.

There is a town, surrounded by 4 main areas, in both worlds. The town is named Sheikahville. To the south is Lanayru Beach, To the west is Faron Forest, to the north is Gerudo Mountains, and to the east is Eldin Gorge, floating above which is Dincity (get it?).

There are 10 dungeons in the game.

Sapphire Tower is a water based level, and is level 1. The item here is the boomerang.
Forest Ruins is a castle remainder in the middle of a forest, and is level 2. The item here is the candle.

Chaos Volcano is a chaotic volcano where you can find the act 1's villain's factory. The theme here is Fire, Ice, Wind, and Earth. Level 3. Item here is the bow.
The Electrodome is a floating stadium accessed from Dincity. It's main theme is electricity. The climax of the first part, this is level 4. Blue Tunic.

Afterwards, you end up in the Dark World, and a new main villain is revealed.

Castle Umbra is level 5. A stormy castle filled with rebelling soldiers. Dungeon item is the flute,
Some earth or fire dungeon or something is level 6. Pegasus boots here.
Ice Ruins is level 7. Wand here. Icey castle ruins.
Sky palace is level 8. Roc's feather here. Floating castle in sky.
Temple of the Sun/Temple of the moon: Level 9. Light and Dark themes respectively. Mirror Shield, Lens of truth, and Master Sword.
Dark Hyrule Castle: Level 10. Does not take place in Miadra.

More later.

Well, time to release a little more info.

Victus is the main antagonist of the first half. He is the Sage of Shadow (well, the new one; He only just took over). He inherited a castle in the Dark World, and commands an entire army of soldiers from the Dark World (It is suggested that he often forgets to pay them, which pisses off the soldiers, as they have Dark World families to feed). The reason he is the main antagonist is because both he and Victus confuse the other for trying to revive Vaati, when they are doing the opposite. After it becomes clear to him that you are the hero of hyrule, he helps you for the other half of the game.
