Hello, everyone!

If you've seen some of my recent posts, you should have an idea that I finished my quest finally!!!

... or so I thought.

I've been finishing "Alpha-testing" (yeah, I know that's not a real word, but hey, I like it!) and I've come across a little snag. The area where Link has to fight Ganon doesn't work properly. I had planned to use "Boss Room" secrets to make it so Link would have to go down some stairs, fight Ganon in a separate room, and then return up the stairs to find the shutter opened. Well, since "Ganon" is a room type and (at least in 2.10) is not a list-able enemy, it reads that there are no enemies in the room; this causes the shutter door up top to be open without even seeing Ganon! :aggravated: Not what I had in mind...

Well, I've done some thinking and I think I know a workaround for this, but it will require some extra rooms that I hadn't planned on making. It almost seems like I'm going "back to the drawing board," ... but it's not game-breakingly serious! A few screens here and there is nothing compared to all the time it took me to complete this big quest!!! :) There is much rejoicing to be done! :awesome:

So, the final word is: soon. This is "coming soon to a theatre [PureZC] near you!" Once I nail a few things down, it's off to the Beta testers. Once that's done, the first official version will finally be posted to PureZC! :bounce:

Hi Lightwulf

Good to read that you did a "Alpha-testing" by youself and notice some things.When you are done with that workaround i belive it is best if you play it again
before any one else of the testers maybe you find something more.And i will test this in Final 2.50 to see if it works right as i said earlier.

Take you time and just update the topic when you are ready to send the file for more testing.

It feels very great "coming soon to a theatre near you"

This might be a 2.5 only thing, but I believe the triforce item Ganon drops has a kill all enemies property. So you can just place down a trigger enemy in the Ganon room and the room above and use boss flags. Killing Ganon should kill the trigger enemy which triggers the boss flag which opens the door.

Uhh... really sorry if you didn't take that as a joke... I kinda suck at making them in the first place XD But anyway, what I'll say is, take your time. If that plan has to be done, so be it, I'll be waiting patiently and I'll be sure to definitely play the quest once it's done.

Update to this Update:

Yeah... so... I went ahead and, last night, I finished the workaround I was talking about. It actually turned out! I made it fit the plot to have the Ganon battle occur in another room (in the basement, adjacent to where it was going to take place). In the room that I was talking about, with the shutter, I made that door unreachable while, to go through it, you'd have to come around from another way that's accessible after the Ganon battle.

... I'd better shut up, now. :heh: I don't want to spoil it for any potential players reading this.

Seriously, though, I hadn't thought of that. I might find other things that I missed. ... I thought that's what Beta testers were for... but nonetheless it would be a worthwhile endeavor to make sure it's as good as I can get it first. :) Especially if I'm the sole tester for version 2.10 (not sure if anyone wants/can do it in that version); it should be near perfect before others check it for compatibility issues/glitches unique to version 2.50.

@Moosh: ... Dang. Maybe I shoulda' waited to implement the workaround until a day after posting the update so I could see your reply! :doh: That's something I didn't know/consider. I'll have to play around with that more and see how it works. It sounds like that would've been a simpler solution!
Of course, I think one problem I had is that Ganon may not have appeared because I had the player insta-warp to an identical screen with the Ganon room type. I don't think he appears unless the player walks into the room from the side.
However, that probably only caused Ganon to not appear (also annoying, but not the same issue); that still wouldn't preclude me from trying your suggested solution. Even if Ganon's in a different room, I could still try what you suggested. I haven't yet used the boss room flag for any other enemy room in that level yet (luckily, since I took out the last one with the old Ganon room and didn't change my plans THAT much), so I could try making a secret appear somewhere else after he's defeated and see how it works.

@EddytheOliveira: :) (See my own childish rant in my comments to judasrising.) As long as you indicate you aren't serious, I take it as a joke. No problems! (A bit of advice, though, to make your jokes sound less offensive and more like a joke, try not using all caps. If you aren't "yelling", less people get offended. ;) {And no, I'm not offended.})
Yeah, I think at least part of my plan had to be done, the part about moving Ganon to an adjacent room. Luckily, my workaround didn't take long to implement. :) Now I just gotta' get to work playtesting again.

I can't wait to explore these charming islands... your screenshot in SOTW hyped me even more. Your quest is exactly the type of game that I want to play now.

Glad to see the enthusiasm! :) I'll get this in as soon as I can, but I have to do it in between my school assignments.
I'll do my best to inform you guys once it's released. I like LP's! :kawaii:

I'm quite happy to report that what Moosh suggested really works! :D And in version 2.10, no less! You can use a Trigger enemy in Ganon's room in conjunction with Boss Room flags to trigger secrets only available after beating Ganon! Woohoo! :awesome:

After some playtesting, I realized I had to go back and add a 3rd layer to my overworld (because it used no layers when I first started out 3 years ago). I went ahead and finished that last week. Now, I have one thing with the ending sequence to iron out before I playtest from the beginning again.

... It's going. :heh:

Because of school, I haven't gotten far on my second play-through. I beat level 2 a while ago, but I haven't picked this up since then. Plus, I was busy all last week on a trip to Texas; all I could do was access the internet from time to time to check on PureZC. :sorry:

I have a few minutes tonight, so I'll make progress on this.
