I need help on Gleelok's Green Ninja quest. I can't seem to beat the two two-headed Gleeoks in the boss room of the intro dungeon. Is there a new sword or ring that I missed somewhere in the dungeon? Or am I just that bad at defeating Gleeoks? :D I would appreciate if someone could help me out as I am getting frustrated.

I replied to your help comment on this but if anyone else has problems here was my response:

Hi DaviAwesome.

That boss wasn't meant to be frustrating so let me apologize for that. My only tester dropped out and I had to difficulty balance myself. That boss is supposed to be the equivalent of Link vs. a 3 or 4-headed Gleeok. (It's just boosted because of the overpowered abilities the player has.) It was meant to test whether or not the player is using the new abilities, or just fighting as NES Link - if the latter then it would be very difficult.

It's also possible that you are just bad at defeating Gleeoks :P , however it's even more likely that I have just gotten fairly good at it, along with the ninja ability scheme. I can do two things for you: Offer some advice, or give you a cheat code for any other balancing issues I may have screwed up. I don't mind either one.

-Kill one Gleeok at a time.
-Chances are you will get up to 2 critical hits in which will help damage-wise.
-Try to set up a teleport return pad for situations when it would be hard to prevent damage. (the corners make good targets)
-Run whenever possible instead of walking (when already moving) to avoid fireballs.
-Start the battle (before you enter the room) by using Vampire-Sword. - It may not seem like much at first but it adds a lot of HP to your life cumulatively. *make sure your MP doesn't hit 0 with this though, as it cancels it*
-When (if) you get to one heart just hit Mana-Shield and play (pray) it safe.

But yeah, the Intro isn't supposed to be overly hard, so send a message my way if you still have troubles and I'll ship you a password or cheat code.

Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers.

Anybody else get stopped stone-cold by this boss also? Because of the brevity of the quest I figured a few deaths are no big deal compared to deaths in an otherwise huge dungeon, but I certainly didn't want people banging their heads just to beat it.

I was only a little frustrated, but I wouldn't count my rating down because of it. I just need to improve how I play and learn the scripts that you've made. Also, that was the first quest I've ever played with scripts so complex. So ya. I really like the game so far, just to tell you. ;)

I got stonewalled by the replay too Gleeok.  It's a bit much, especially with all the statue rooms.  A 2-headed Gleeok alone with the Wooden Sword is pretty out there.

Then again, Smash TV wasn't SUPPOSED to be easy (I've actually played that!)

Smash TV was so awesome in the day! I'm probably one of the few people that beat it before MAME came along. Heck, I even had the Smash TV NES cart! -Learn to emulate a dual-stick shooter with a NES-pad and you know you have way too much free time.
Definitely, without a doubt, on the top-ten arcade games list of all time. :)

Also, yes, it has come to my attention that I f'ed up there. Here's what happened:
-I originally had two 3-headed Gleeoks there, but after my first (fix major and scripting issues first) run I replaced them with two 2-headers instead.
-Then, on the next playthrough, I happened to beat it on the first try without any major problems. Thus the bulk of re-balancing was directed at shortcuts, refill rooms, save points, and easier enemy types for the remainder of the demo. After that I barely had enough time to put in a final boss before I actually went over the deadline.

So yeah, that's what happened. Also I did beat it without cheats (minus the final boss - ran out of time) if you were wondering. ;)

It's OK Gleeok, I think the elite quest designers sometimes get carried away with the difficulty of their quests because they beat it the first time or make a bad adjustment that blows the whole audience away :: cough :: James Quest 2 :: cough ::

For a 2-week quest I won't hold it against you, just because I did Demo 1st Quest in 5 hours doesn't mean everybody has the capability of pulling it off:  Hell, even though I laid out Demo 2nd in a very short amount of time, it went back to scrum because it didn't feel right when I played it, and probably won't be ready for the big stream for the dorm people.  It happens to the best of us.

I haven't got time to play the rest of the 2-weekers (maybe I will just so I can chime in on them providing KinYoobi Con doesn't get in the way), but just to be generally fair:  Gaming gems don't always produce the best games, especially when you only get 48 hours in professional ones like the one I did.  The fact you got something playable in that amount of time is a feather in your cap:  Demo 2nd still isn't playable IMO.

Take the Gleeoks down to one, and I'll give it another whirl when the contest is over.  Just don't hand it to me at 5 PM on Sunday when my projects are due at 11 PM generally (you didn't know that, but since my schedule is pretty much set until November that way, good I tell you now).

Just my 2C.

You can beat those gleeoks fairly easily by abusing the vampire sword technique. I'm fairly sure they can be beaten without it though as I got the last one down to one head like three times and only died because of stupid mistakes.

Edit: Rapidfire gleeok! RAPIDFIRE GLEEOK! How do?

Edit2: And it turns out I'm dumb. Solution was dodge his bullets.
