Same as the EZGBZ palettes thread. Any palettes posted here are free to use for everybody. You can post requests, too. Contribute your own palettes, too! icon_smile.gif

Do the PR Dungeons use the same palette set-up as DoR dungeons? If they do:

Nice palettes. I'm sort of getting tired of DoR though. I haven't seen any real fresh and new DoR shots in quite a while.

I don't have any new palettes to contribute, but I'll go ahead and say that all three you provided are really pretty. They're rich and natural-feeling, a lot like the Donkey Kong Country 3 and SNES Star Ocean palettes. Keep it up.

Nice palettes Yoshimi! Now here is one I worked on:

IPB Image
Rainbow Wilderness

The browns are 100% Evile's as they are from his "bright new" palette. So if you do give credit give it to both me and him! Screen done by Radien. icon_smile.gif I think I have to redo the lightest pink because some brown objects look odd; I'll replace the image with the edited palette later. I might brighten up the blues a little bit too along with fixing up the brown issue. In the mean time, it's usable. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the support, thanks for the participation. icon_smile.gif

@Fausch: I have to agree with you. My hope is that new palettes put some quests into a new light. It's no secret that I never was the fondest person of the DoR tileset (though I do appreciate the great effort that went into it) but people like to use it. Thus: palettes thread.

Well, I'm sorry to hear some people are getting "tired" of DoR, but this is definitely one of the primary ways I'd recommend making it feel more fresh. I included so many palettes in DoR in the hopes that people would use them to personalize their quests. Some of the palettes have become more popular than others, and unfortunately that means that they don't all get used. But people are allowed their preferences, and I still greatly welcome new palettes like these.

Not to mention, people don't pay as much attention to palettes as I think they should, and I'd love to see more people learning how to make their own. icon_smile.gif

I totally expect to see some ponies jumping out of this screenshot. icon_wink.gif

I wouldn't recommend using this palette too often, but for a "Whimsyshire"-like area, it'd be great.

Also, you don't need to credit me for my sample screens from the tileset. Those were just thrown together messily to demonstrate the tiles. But thanks.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... Yoshimi, love all the palettes in your first post. icon_smile.gif Some are rather bright or extreme, but used well, they can be very pleasing.

Thread is getting attention. Uh, let's see.

Radien, I'm glad you like the stuff. I was actually kinda curious what you'd think about them because you push DoR more in the "realistic visuals" direction while these palettes I made are rather cartoon-esque.
What I'd like to see done with DoR would probably be a change of the ground textures back to the simpler looks (which would probably support these colors rather well) or a change of the world objects into the direction of the more elaborated graphics of SD3 et al. Really, DoR could be forked into (at least) two different tilesets with the same logic but different aesthetic.

Edit: What's also to blame about DoR getting 'generic' is that everybody believes her or his quests needs to start with some kind of forest. Why not have Link's hometown at a beach? Or atop a mountain range? Or if you go forest: autumn forest or winter forest? DoR's not 'generic' in itself but rather in the uninspired way people tend to use it. :/

Keiichi, thanks for the support. Also, thanks for inspiring this! icon_razz.gif

Okay, I have a request if anyone's willing to help me out icon_smile.gif

Now Yoshimi, I love the palettes you made with my screen, but I'm looking for a slightly different palette for my Falkor Heights region of my game. I'm looking for a slightly dark, wasteland like feel. Not Dark World "dark", but like a thin layer of clouds is over head.

Example: http://fc04.devianta...V_by_mutrus.jpg
I want the grass to be a yellow green color like it's dried out a little.

If anyone helps me out, full credit will be given icon_smile.gif

Thanks! ~Keiichi

Download the screenshot, then go to Quest->Graphics->Palettes->Level->{Blank palette}->{CSets 2, 3, 4 and 9}->Rip->{Screenshot}->{Matching CSet}.
