I have beaten Fire and Ice and now I am at the last step before the Underworld. Should I tackle the third vault first? Where is it anyways if I get bored. Also, how do I remove the trees?

Been puzzling over this for awhile.

Thanks I have been enjoying this and look forward to what lays ahead.

Not bad for an old fart using just keyboard for controls.

Only way to play!

I'd recommend it, yeah.

It's at the top left of the overworld. There's a secret passage through one of the graveyard walls. If you got the Lens, it'll flash for you.

(Don't miss something important on the next screen either.)

Also, how do I remove the trees?

The 3 big round ones below the cave?

They're too big for a normal candle to burn, but Din's Fire'll toast those nice and good.

Thanks I have been enjoying this and look forward to what lays ahead.

Thank you!

Looks like I have a project for after I solve the puzzle of the rooms in Inferno in B2 I haven't been able to reach yet. Sows on map as unvisited but I can't find my way to them yet. Looking forward to becoming a pain to all the hapless Octorocks in the overworld.

Oh, I think I know what you're talking about. You may or may not have noticed, but the minimaps show bombable walls. The main walls use the darkest dungeon color, while a bombable wall shows a black spot. Kinda subtle, but it's there. And there's a single bombable wall in B2, so if you didn't find it, check past the boss-locked area. Otherwise, everything in B2 should be accessible from standard B1 staircases.

Thank you, looks like i shied away from a return trip to the pit thinking I had resolved all my issues earlier. The second trip through was more rewarding. Fancy new bling for my finger. Off to try the vault a second timee.

Quick question. Just about to go yeet Ganon and I have a couple of blank spots on my maps I am wondering about. One is the number 7 column on the underworld.

is it supposed to be blank?

Also the underworld dungeon has a large area I haven't been to. Is it blank also?

Otherwise I am ready.

Yeah, there's nothing on either one.

The thing with ZC is that its spacebar map always displays the full 8x16 screen grid as white squares in the middle of a black background, then gradually fills in whatever screen you visit as you progress through the area. Quest designers don't have any say in how big the white space is - it's just automatically 8x16 because that's the amount of screens a map provides. So when we don't fill the entire map with screens, we end up with huge chunks of unexplored white space on our spacebar maps. There's nothing we can do to black them out.

So yeah, those areas are supposed to be blank because there's nothing there.

(I mean, technically, the first floor of Underworld Dungeon is in that white space in your screenshot, but that's just my internal DMap organization, not a gameplay thing that should be a concern.)

Otherwise I am ready.

Let's hope so

(Though, probably the readiest you can be is when you discover the most useless shop in the world isn't so useless after all. Not necessary, of course, but makes things a bit easier if you're low on rupees/arrows.)

What a pretty darn nice quest!  Thank you for it!  I seem to have finished the game with what I believe is almost everything.

Spoiler

I just can't seem to find the last Heart Container and Magic Container.  I've done all three Vaults.  I think what I'm looking for is probably a kill-all-enemies item drop from an arbitrary dungeon screen.

Finished it!

Thanks for the few words of advice I managed somehow. I almost feel sad since it had to end and I was enjoying all the power and looking forward to being the tyrant in Hyrule in place of Ganon.

I thought it may have been just dead space on the maps but felt the need to check because that much area would have made an awesome side quest or two.I had a great time playing this and found myself using old skills to clear screens quickly.

Giving this 5 stars because I know how much effort it takes to create something this playable and still keep it close to classic.

Thank you for all your help and advice.

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it :)

It looks that way, from what I can tell.

(Should I assume your massive money count came from the useless shop?)

Most likely.

I mean, it's kinda hard to say without knowing which ones you've gotten so far, but hearts are only overworld caves/secrets and dungeon bosses/vaults, while magic containers are scattered around dungeon rooms as well. There's 3 in Spider, 2 in Desert, 1 in Inferno, and 2 in Frozen. If not those, then the other 8 are on the overworld. The whirlpool one, maybe?

Anyway, nice 0-death run!

Finished it!

No problem, thanks for playing.

If it were more story-driven, there might have been room for more side-quest material. You know, subplots with different characters and deeper world history and all that. As it is, there's only so many items and enemies available, so it's probably best to not stretch them too thin. Plus, the base classic tileset only has so much visual variety on top of that. There'll have to be a new quest with a new set to take it further.

(Also, if you really want to play the bad guy, The Adventure of Kain should suit you well.)
