You may have the ones outside facing the wrong way. The switches need to be hit simultaneously, so total magic travel distance (after the split) is important.

still no idea how to cross that water cant even walk on it and not sure what cave to take only see 4 of them in the over world that connects to this cave system and i know the one cave that leads to that area from a walkable wall just seem to get that key might need the flippers or another cave thats somehwree near the town.

ya been to all caves in the basin and no luck unless im missing something there but still would that key after killing red zols for other lock block

Fyrus, I think you are; there should be 5 entrances available. Try searching around a bit in town for another way to the basin.

Ok, I guess I'm really dumb, but I haven't found anyitems in this game yet. Could someone give me a push in the right direction as how to find... well, anything?

 

EDIT: Never mind, I think I'm making some progress here. Just found my first red key!

You need to head to the northern part of the basin. Head north of town to get there. then find "Either an invisible or bombable wall" leading south to that red key room.

Some tips with the skeleton form of the final boss? He destroyed me many times before I can learn the pattern or tactics xD It's HARD. I think I tried it nearly twenty times... I miss my potions, snif...

 

Are there a red tunic in the quest? Obviously not, it's just a dream xD

Try finding a safe way to hit him that doesn't put you in his path. Maybe bombs, candle, or boomerang?

Btw, what a masterpiece. Just delete these long boring slide puzzles in the castle 8-D I'm curious about how much time take a replay of the quest. But a replay of these slide puzzles is a no no no >.>....

As Dimentio mentioned, ranged attacks are slow but effective. Bombs are especially good. Spin attacks deal a large amount of damage and are not much harder to land than a standard attack. Bait will lure all attacks for a while; it may not help you hit him much, but it can give you some safer time to search for hearts. You can stun the heads with sword/boomerang when they open their mouth to stop them from attacking, so maybe try paying a bit more attention to the blue or red heads if they are near by and stop their attacks. Although honestly I usually just run like mad and place bombs when the body is on its way.

 

There is no red mail, but you can get up to Lv 4 sword (I assume you found this already, but in case you didn't, it will help a lot.)

 

I think a second playthrough would take two to three hours. With a good route and mostly clean execution, the quest can be finished in under an hour.

Try looking in caves in the northwest part of basin. Look for bombable/hidden walls.

Nervermind, i've got the candle, but damn, is there supposed to be any hint about that bombable wall ? :o
