If you'd looked around the desert, you might have found the Blue Tunic by now....

 

Level 6 is one where backtracking is definitely required once you get the dungeon item. It also highlights a feature which I call, "easier to F6", I know you don't like to, but this is just one of many dungeons where you'll find puzzles and areas that are easier to reach by going back to the start.

 

That being said, you're nearly halfway done with the main story. There's a Nayru encounter that you missed because you wandered onto the screen and left before she could show up. It's at day, north of Hyrule Castle and just east of the cave that leads to level 6.

The design of level 6 is deceptively simple and fiendishly complex at the same time. I could probably put in a warp at that last boomerang switch so you wouldn't have to walk all the way back to the entrance.

 

I made the magic boomerang a requirement because it is needed for a lot of things later and I wanted to get the message across to players that they should have it by the time you reach level 7. As for where you get it, you might remember a shop near level 8 which was closed and had a switch outside?

So... you walked (er... ran) right through the screen where Nayru is supposed to appear. It's beside that big rock between the cave to level 6 and the path to the graveyard. The only reason I can think of that it didn't show up is because they rely upon direct warps which might not be triggering properly while using the Pegasus Boots. (On your previous visit, you barely went on that screen.)

 

I should also mention that the Gold Darknut in the desert requires the Silver Arrows to beat. I made it that way so you couldn't complete the Gold beast quest until after you'd gotten the main items from the last dungeon.

 

The clues you're getting at the end of each dungeon aren't always for the next in sequence.

 

I made another minor update recently, which you may want to grab since there is a possibility that failing to have it could make it where you can't finish the game.

I should mention that after you get the hammer, the Nayru encounter outside the Abandoned Villa at night changes, netting you another Friendship Token. There are 20 overall, ten from Nayru and ten from the trading sequence.

 

You're about halfway through the quest now, but it's clear this to me this is going to take a bit longer than Balance of Nature did; due to the complexity of the overworld and the number of sidequests involved.

 

There's a guard at Hyrule Castle which mentions the location of the Red Tunic, now that you have the Blue Tunic. You won't be able to get it until after level 9, though.

Technically, going to level 10 isn't sequence breaking; since both level 9 and 10 can be reached in any order after level 8.

 

I surprised that you didn't find the way to level 9 before this, but now that you know; I'm sure you'll be going there next.

 

In Case You Haven't Played This and Want to Wait for the Video

There's a house outside the Abandoned Villa that is guarded by hammer posts which has an item which allows access to level 9. So it was available, even if that wasn't obvious.

 

I'm not sure what's going on with that Nayru encounter. (I'm sure I would have remembered you getting it.) I tested it in my own copy of the quest and it appeared to be working fine. The only thing that I can think of is that there might be an unintended carryover of secrets from another screen.

 

I'm not sure that I can fix it where you could reach it in a way that would make the public version work as well, but I can send you a private fix just for your save file if you want.
