Like I'm serious I need some help on Cerbat Shrine. I can't find the red candle and I'm going in circles because of those switches.

Yes, it's near the town in the forest, in the south maze, it's not specially hidden

I'm really lost in Level 7. I got the Silver Arrow, managed to make my way down to the lower left hand corner of the map in winter, and hit a dead end. I'm certain to the east there is a tiny island with more trees that die in winter, I don't know how to get there, other than that, I'm not seeing any indication on where to go. It seems like I got most of the island explored.
I just spent an hour in my recent stream wandering around in circles. So alas, I am quite frustrated at the moment.

Just starting the game, defeated level 1, have raft and small boomer. Pretty stuck. Need a candle and a key to go anywhere in treetop, Mayor wants a gem, someone else wants a dog. So basically need a key and k=candle to move forward.

Just finished this quest today. Good job Shoelace! It does get a bit too insanely difficult in the later chapters (and the challenge doesn't even end after the final boss...hello Eagle Hell) and after several attempts, I think I have given up on the idea of ever getting through the Cave of Ordeals and completely completing the quest, but I'm pretty sure I've 100% completed the quest otherwise. While there were many challenges and places I got stuck for a while, I eventually figured everything out (including finding all 48 Heart Pieces) on my own without needing to come to this help thread, EXCEPT for two places:
1) That secret dive spot in the room to the right of the entrance to Hyrule Castle. I don't think I would ever have found that on my own. I was doing everything I could possibly think of to every space in the room above to try and make that shutter open!!!
2) I found the "Press A+UP" portion of the final boss to be very dodgy. Somewhere in this thread Shoelace suggested that one should actually hold down UP and then time the A button tap when the beam is within range, and that worked well enough, but I don't think I'd have ever beaten the final boss without being given that reinterpretation. IMO the actions to that portion are not sufficiently intuitive without some sort of revision. (FYI I've always used 2.50.)
Other than those frustrations and the overall difficulty level to one's life if one is to totally complete this game and its bonus content, not a bad quest. Some interesting dungeons; I thought Level 7 was rather creative. And an impressively expansive overworld without being too boring--although disappointing that I never did get to explore the rest of Citadel. I do wish that all item spaces on the subscreen could have been filled, though.
Do I take it, Shoelace, that the sequel to this quest is never going to happen, since it has been so many years since the original release of HoD?

This is, unfortunately, an artifact of 2.50. That section worked perfectly in 2.10, but the changes made to 2.50 made it so damn finnicky that I can never pull it off myself.2) I found the "Press A+UP" portion of the final boss to be very dodgy. As far as a sequel goes, Shoelace has been working on a sequel, but it's been in development for a quite a while and I have my doubts about its off of ever being finished.

IIRC Shoelace mentioned somewhere that he was beginning to run out of maps at this point.
"This is, unfortunately, an artifact of 2.50. That section worked perfectly in 2.10, but the changes made to 2.50 made it so damn finnicky that I can never pull it off myself."
This is rather odd, and we'll have to look into that, especially if Bikdip's Adventure 3 (1.92) ever gets released. I wouldn't imagine the collision detection for walking up into the invisible warp tile has changed. Maybe there's some QR that doesn't get set for 2.10 quests played in 2.5x? I know the "1.90-style Tribbles" rule ironically does not enable for 1.90 quests played in 2.50.

I would have said the same except for the revelation that Shoelace was the one pushing for the new 800 tile pages you can see in the latest 2.55 alphas.

I do actually plan on making/finishing my sequel. Scripting was always my downfall. I am like 90% done with my scripting (though I took a hiatus like 10 months ago). Scripting bores me and I get frustrated with it. I really just need to clean up a couple of things since I have the items scripted that I need. But I run into some issues here and there. Plus, I tried my game in a 2.55 alpha, and my scripts died completely... so... now I am in a hard place. I need those 800 tile pages... but that means I am going to have to figure out what scripts are breaking what.
I had a couple of people commit to helping me with scripts but it fell through, so I need to man up and get it down. I am actually pretty fast at making games design wise, but it is just the scripts I have trouble with. Maybe, while I am figuring it out, I can remaster Hero of Dreams for its 15 year anniversary. lol

Oh hey, there IS actually a Gold Tunic at the end of the Cave of Ordeals! (Yes, I knew there would be because Shoelace said so; I'm just slightly surprised I actually got through it. Turns out it's not THAT difficult/impossible as long as you have the patience for several runs almost all the way through to permanently eliminate the many stock bosses along the way. And strategically utilize Nayru's Love a lot.)
