I finally figured out that the candle is the best defense against leevers, never would have guessed that, but it makes sense in retrospect. which incidentally means that both the magic rod AND the candle are going to be my best friends here. Hope my magic bar survives.

EDIT: that is if the knockback decides to work... seriously i have NO idea how knock back has ever worked in zelda classic, it's really inconsistent.

Knockback in ZC is bad and wonky, but yeah, the candle or quick reflexes with arrows works best.

Speaking of the candle (And its uses since it was practically garbage in the first zelda game aside from like, one or two enemies.) I gotta say I like what you've done with dungeon 11 here, the itemless puzzles (Although the beamos one felt a bit TOO mean, just the fear factor alone tended to make me a bit twitchy and need to reset the puzzle, but i figure that's the point.) Are a refreshing change of pace. And I've already been caught off-guard by basement floor 2.

He said, before running into a room with ghinis that need to be killed to proceed, forcing you to use the mirror to HOPE you can lure them into a shot of the trap's magic beams.

Would you believe that both of those rooms were at one point harder, prior to release? >_> Toning them down to what they are now was a good decision, I feel, especially for Hero Mode players.

And for that bit of mercy I thank you... I've realized now that I'm only at 17 heart containers by level 12, and i know for a fact that i'm playing the complete version. That's going to be fun to figure out.

You're probably going to want to go on a massive heart piece hunt before you enter the final dungeon. Still though, that's really impressive you made it so far with only 17 hearts. :D

Venser II is a shitty boss if you're actually attempting to kill him. My biggest regret with him is underestimating the number of players who would retry until they win. On hero mode, spamming him with the wand + super bombs once phase 2 starts is probably your best bet if you absolutely want that staff. I wish I had done better to convey "You're not supposed to win this", but oh well.

This is why I believe that "optional content" is technically not so optional afterall. In a world full of extreme completionists. You can almost guarantee people will try to force, cheat, hack, or take whatever measure necessary to access it, than criticize you for making it exist. :P Speaking of which, I should open your quest in Zquest now using the quest password you provided at the end of the game to see if there is any hidden non-included dungeon I can cheat into then criticize you for it's existence.

Twenty seven, i have no idea why i said seven tee- oh because usually the max is twenty. I have twenty seven heart containers. Derp.

Edit: I have to say, you've FINALLY given me reasons to use the goddess spells, since i was spamming din's fire with regularity in level 11, and now in dungeon 12, instead of combating the gale boomerang controls, i decided to just kill the slime, activate nayru's love and just walk on the spikes. it worked way better than I could have hoped. Falore's wind WOULD be nice, if it wasn't the last thing the game gives you, so i mean... it'll help in a bonus dungeon or something, maybe.

Edit: I finally got around to editing my profile and am celebrating something I found to be absolutely lovely. It's like the spinner or dominion rod, if they actually had use outside of those dungeons. I love it.

Glad you liked the Portal Sphere. It's probably my second favorite item right behind the Gale Boomerang.

Oh so Lumen 1 felt like a really nice, tough but mostly fair boss, where as Lumen 2 seems... absurd since she never stays still long enough to hit and has a tendency to fill the entire room with death. I guess that's just how hard the second to last main boss just is. I'm supposed to hit her with the portal sphere when she glows black, right? What does her black aura actually DO? Also I've found that both Nayru's love and the Cane don't seem to do much to her, although the cane might just be because i have trouble hitting her up close.

Her black aura causes her to move and attack much faster. It's recommended that you clear that with the portal sphere at the earliest possible opportunity. If I remember right, she resists Venser's Cane, so standing as far away as possible and attacking with the wand is probably your best bet.

Huh... well I managed to beat her anyways, now i've got 29 heart containers, with no clue where the other two pieces might be. Or do they only unlock after beating the final boss?

All the heart pieces should be available before the final boss. Did you remember to go back and get the one in the Blue Forest Mansion? There's also one in Southern Remdra in a cave you can reach early on to get a heart piece but have to come back later with the gauntlets for another that's often missed. If I recall, a third frequently missed one's in the area around Level 8, bombing a suspicious spot in the ground and using the portal sphere.

One was underneath a mushroom that i had to hammer, i always wondered why the area up above was like what it was. But none of the ones you've suggested, sorry. I already did all four portal sphere ones.

Edit: I found a grumble grumble guy, but he's not taking the bait. Weird.

Wat. You mean the one in Celest City, right? I can't imagine how that would've broken.
