You can move one of the statues and then you will be able to hookshot across the Green water.

Yes! I completed the quest dying only 20 times! I had to use a ton of retries and hearts and fairies though. icon_heh.gif

Awesome. And only 20 times. That is around my count, and this is my game, but congrats. icon_razz.gif

Holy crap... this topic has 91 pages of replies! icon_eek.gif

Heh, you should feel proud, Shoelace. icon_wink.gif

20 deaths?... Dayamn... this is certainly harder than your average Zelda game.

Actually, you can get to level 4 boss without dying (plain luck if you won't die here either)... and from there you can get to level 7 boss without dying (have Nayru's love, full potion and you have chance not be killed here)... In level 8 spike puzzles you step badly once and you are screwed, so there you surely die a few times... the level 8 boss is also a sure killer... and the final boss is also a sure killer.
With closely analysing the risks of dying, using Nayru's love and pots reguralry and finding all hearths... I managed to make the death count to about 30.
And it's still not the hardest quest even if we don't count the Armageddon and Armageddon-like quests.

You know, if there was an award for the best Quest of 2006, this would definitely win!!! Seeing how popular this thread is!

Agreed.
Soon it will be 100 pages. HoD is on noticeable place: it's on the first page of the TopRatedQuests page plus it's in some people's sigs. (-_-)

I remember the firts times...
In an update a site staff said that he will go back playing HoD... I thought that I once tried it and didn't like it but still went to that page and seen that I never played it yet... So I started to play it... And I felt like playing LttP... In this help thread we were like a family... "Shoelace and the Beta Testers"|tm| was kept busy with the constant questions...
I wish those times back. At that time this thread could grow 10 pages in 2 days...

Yeah, it is hard to beat it without dying. But I managed to beat the game without dying.

Thanks guys, I am just so happy that my game was as loved as it was. And, yes, I can't wait until the 100th page too. Craziness because that averages out to 2 pages a week. O_O

And, what in the world! You beat the game without dying! That is truely amazing!

Well, obviously so, but that's also the reason why the Armageddon quests are not terribly popular. icon_razz.gif

I WOULD say that it's remarkable a game this hard is still so popular. I have played many a challenging Zelda game and Zelda clone, but most of the adventure games that can be bought in stores are nowhere near hard enough for me to rack up as many deaths as you've all been stating for HoD.

That's not to say that other genres don't have games that challenging... the 3D Prince of Persia games in particular. I'm sure I've gotten 20 deaths in a run-through of one of those games.

Considering how much I like the 3D Prince of Persia games, I certainly hope HoD is challenging in the same way. I'll give it a try sometime.

Maybe, you would rather wait for the Easier verison of HoD that will be released at the time of 2.5. One problem in HoD, is towards the end it got too hard. It isn't hard to the point that you can't beat it. However, I sorta made it where you die and then practice makes perfect. Meaning you will beat it if you keep trying. I made it that way because that is how I liked my NES games. Where you die a lot but you learn from the mistakes. However, maybe I should have thought that through, as my 8th level was hated because of that.

So rest assure, the easier version will please a lot of people. And I know that a lot of you don't want me to make an easier version, however, if you want to play the harder version, this is the one you should play though.

My suggestion is that you use the hookshot repeatively. That's how I was able to win it. Use it when the "Final Boss" shoots the big fire waves at you. Like in ALttP, when you use the hookshot, you're invincible.

And I'm guessing Blue Link 2007 used quit and continue, right Blue Link? Don't worry, I used it a few times OK Fine, I used it quite a bit, but at least I did take some deaths (11 is enough!)

I now return to playing this game... after an extra long break <_<

Anyway, now I'm in Season Isle, stuck here, missing a key:

From the start, go left twice and there is a STUMP. Change the season to winter and go northeast to get to this key that is across the water. With the same stump make it fall and go northeast to get the other key. One of those keys you missed. Hope that helps.

Yes, Season Isle is probably one of the most difficult dungeons puzzle-wise. But don't think it's over. The next dungeon will require a lot of speed, skill, and memory.
