NJF Plays Isle of Rebirth [Hero] (48 - L12 Starlight Temple part 1)

Description:

 

Link is granted access to the Starlight Temple to find his 3rd and final Goddess Gem which will grant him the powers to defeat Venser once and for all. However, this once holy temple is now filled with many monsters and fiends! No doubt some of Vensers work to prevent others from getting the jewel. Link must navigate through this mysterious palace in the sky to finally obtain the key to defeating Venser.

Link must solve a tricky ice block puzzle to move on. This takes him much more time than he anticipates, but he manages to solve the tricky puzzle and move ahead.

Soooooo, about the level 4 boss..., yeah I think that one needs a complete re-work.

In order to attack you have to be next to it, except, if you are, then you're very likely to get hit point-blank with all the projectiles. Hit detect is also pretty awful if you ask me, it works very wonky (In relation to the sword and bombs (the latter of which I have been told does not work at all, regardless of sound effects(!))), and it does not help that the boss turns around very sporadically and instantaneously.


I'm going to keep streaming later today and give it a few more attempts, but that does not really change my opinion that this boss is currently very problematic. And I feel that if you're still updating the quest, then this is one of the biggest things to look into.

Nerfs for Scourge are definitely in the cards if IoR gets updated again, but I'm currently really busy on my new project so I can't say if it's happening anytime soon.

 

EDIT: You know what? I'm pushing a quick fix out. The other thing I want to fix probably isn't something I have a lot of control over, so no point in holding up the entire update just for that.

Link finally reaches the end of Starlight Palace, in close grasp of his third and final Goddess Gem when he is confronted by Lumen, reborn and ever more powerful. Lumen, while claiming to be free from Venser's curse still has a heart full of evil. With a darkened heart, she intends to get revenge on Venser, and she's willing to do what it takes. She attacks Link, hoping to get his Triforce piece from him Link has no other choice but to fight Lumen, who reveals that she not only still has darkness in her heart, but she also has some of Venser's power as well, which she uses to aid her into trying to defeat Link. Despite her tremendous powers, Link is still able to defeat her. Link obtains the 3rd Goddess Gem and he will soon be ready to take on Venser! There is just one more thing that he must get before he does.

Mechanics of climbing out of water, right? Or was there something else?

And I never had any more issues with Scourge than with anything else, personally - yes, he's hard to hit, but he's also easy to dodge compared to other bosses. The fight drags on for a while, yeah, but it's not especially hard, per se. (That said, I wouldn't be against a rebalancing of some sort if others find the hitbox thing frustrating.)

Scourge used to wait 9 frames after each attack before preforming another action (like walking/turning). I never use increments of 9 (In addition to it being such a small period of time), so I suspect this was a typo that was supposed to be 90 frames (1.5 seconds). Or could have been 9 frames. I don't remember what I was thinking back then. Either way, it's 90 now.

A boss that i found annoying in my playthrough was nerfed.
