And nevermind. This boss is way too hard for me. Guess it was a waste of time to make it work.

Suit yourself, but if you ever come back around to it: if you don't want it to stop playing fair, avoid using potions and Nayru's Love at all costs. If you use either of those, it'll become invincible for several seconds and heal itself.

I gotta start praticing the bosses more before i start bitching about them being hard. Also, almost beat it without using a potion, but one of his/her drunk tornadoes hit me and, well, most of my health went to crap.

This boss is much easier once you get used to him.

A little pro tip that worked for me, ignore his taunt, he's an asshole, use those potions. But if you're gonna use a potion, use them both at the same time, it cuts the concequence in half.

This boss is scripted to heal when you heal. In which he starts healing and gets very evasive, you'll notice this when he starts healing, and you can't hit him. He does this when you use potions, but this effect doesn't stack. So if you use two potions at the one time, he'll only do this once. If you use your potions at separate times, he'll end up doing this asshole trick twice.

Also, in his third phase... (He often heals by default between phases), he'll get into his ultimate pattern where his Attacks are all just generally more troublesome. This phase seems the longest, but it's actually very short. You need to get very aggressive here. The time it takes to beat this part of the fight depends on how aggressive you are. He is constantly healing, and I found myself getting into an uphill battle with him using my more evasive maneuvers. In short, I knew how to dodge all his Attacks, but he knew how to heal more than I could hurt him.

This phase forces you to really focus on his vulnerabilities, your main goal is to know when to Attack and just do it, sometimes even at the cost of getting hurt yourself.

I wasn't joking about the door being closed even with 30 hearts in 2.5.0, but being opened in 2.5.2 (haven't tried in 2.5.1). Then again, i noticed that 2.5.0 is quite a buggy version.

 

Been doing the Blighted Abyss and, well, this place is something else. Given that it's already rather difficult on Normal, i can imagine the nightmare it is on Hero.

 

 

Last, i heard that ??? is the protagonist of Evan's new quest which is -reads previous posts- a Metroidvania? Hell yeah, i'm on board.

I'm working on one of the final boss fights right now! Just finished the obligatory-final-boss-over-the-top-background effect!

Last, i heard that ??? is the protagonist of Evan's new quest which is -reads previous posts- a Metroidvania? Hell yeah, i'm on board.

So Evan warning me and Moosh not to hype up the quest too much after we conducted a pretty unsustainable hype train prior to IoR's release. With that said, this new quest is something. Very different from most quests, but in a good way. It also has bosses that are basically porn for boss scripters.

Also you actually get to use ???'s jump into the air and make tornadoes attack as a weapon and that should be reason enough to play.

bossporn.qst was considered as a working title.

 

EDIT: Russ is right. Most if not all of ???'s abilities during his boss fight are things you can do in some shape or form.

Welp, not gonna reach Stan after all. I can't honestly pass through this screen with the moving sands, giant traps and mirror wizzrobes.

Some people consider that screen the hardest room in the quest. If you managed to pass it, a shortcut will open when you hit the button so you never have to do it again. I don't blame you if you want to stop though. If it's giving you trouble, Nayru's Love does help a lot there.

If you are talking about the room with moving sands, two giant blade traps and a bunch of on crack tektites, then i got through that one too. I accidentally picked up the Bloody Staff and thought it would replaced the cane, but it doesn't. I was relieved to be honest.

I was talking about the Bloody Staff room and the one immediately preceding it. (I count them together because screwing up in the Staff room means having to clear the one before it again.) The Tektite room isn't nearly as bad, IMO, if only because you can just pick off the Tektites from the entrance.

Then again, playing on Normal rather than Hero probably helps with those rooms a lot more than with the pit room.

That room left of the Bloody Staff room even on Normal gave me trouble. I can imagine how hard it is on Hero.

 

 

What's the background song of Blighted Abyss? I swear i've heard it before (Final Hours of Majora's Mask?).
