This is totally not relevant to the topic at hand, but that dude above me is totally a Russian Spy. Hell it says so in the name. lol. Sorry for that name just stuck out as something.

Edit; this is aimed at the user that posted before me.

Death Knight swords can kill you while the Knight is despawning upon death. (I just found this out the hard way against Stan.) Is that intentional?

The sword blade itself dies when ZC recognizes the enemy as dead. It's not intended behavior, but it does stick around for an extra frame after their HP hits 0 due to how ZC works. The sword beam projectiles on the other hand are still live after they die, just like any other enemy projectile.

So you think I was hit by a shot fired right before it died? That's possible, I suppose - I wasn't facing the right way to reflect one.

Still no less frustrating, though.

To give people an example of how hard the bosses truly are in this game. I provide this video to really show you guys the horror. The truth of the matter is, most of you will not know how difficult these bosses are from victory videos! How are you supposed to know how hard Tartaros is just by watching me beat him? Some of these battles are long drawn out battles that can sometimes last HOURS!!!

Since I didn't want to force viewers to watch a video of such length, I sped this video up to twice the original speed. This 20 minute video will give you an idea just how hard the boss from Starlight Temple really is. Lumen truly is a bitch! lol

I'm pretty sure anybody who's beaten this is going to have a few memories brought back to them watching this video. lol

I appreciate that. It took me days to win the second Venser fight, and I still haven't beaten Tartaros/Stan. (Real life's been starting to get in the way, but still...)

Are you playing on Hero Mode or Normal Mode?

Hero. Apart from getting the Bloody Staff (and I already have the Cane, so I'm not going to bother), beating Tartaros is the only thing I have left to do.

Cool! I'm assuming you beat the secret guy in the Hall of Memories, the one where you need the get all the Hearts to fight him?

Also, on an unrelated note! Happy Birthday Evan20000!

Whoa, what? There's a secret fight in the Hall of Memories?

Spoiler

EDIT: Found it. Didn't realize this was here... Ah, well, a nice change of pace from BoI on crack. :P

It's your birthday, Evan? Then happy birthday! :D

EDIT 2: HOLY PUTIN HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE THE CANE GOES RIGHT THROUGH HIM AND HE RUNS FASTER THAN ME AND THERE ARE NO HOOKSHOT TARGETS WHAT.

EDIT 3: Wow, power of the post really seems to be a thing with me. Also, is it bad that the reason I was looking into custom bosses (and found this game) was so I could figure out how to program my own? Which was planned to be a lot like this guy, but with 5 forms, some different attacks, and requiring every item from Link's Awakening to beat? (Total coincidence - I didn't even know this boss existed.)

EDIT 4: Note to self: do not use Nayru's Love against this boss. It automatically whips out the healing shield and starts dodging for as long as you're protected.

Yep

This boss isn't that bad, not nearly half as bad as Tartaros. However, I do feel that this is a subjective opinion because Russ says he's harder than Tartaros, and Evan20000 says their difficulties are equal.

I personally find him easier than Lumen and Venser and would put him on Medusa's category (without the staff and portal sphere of course). But that's just how I feel.

He's definitely easier than Venser. Lumen? Ehhhhhhhhh.

My biggest struggle with him is that it took me a lot longer than it should have to realize he punishes you for using anything that's not the Sword.

And I can see why there's some disagreement on difficulty: Tartaros is a lot more demanding on reflexes (mere rhythm will get you past this guy), but this is the only late-game boss (except the final one) that forces you to stick to your most risky weapon.

EDIT: GODDAMMIT HE HEALS IF YOU DO TOO.

EDIT 2: Allow me to update my analysis. This guy will be easier against people who play more defensively, strictly because healing or using Nayru's Love automatically makes him heal himself a lot. Tartaros hits a bit harder, but you're not doomed if you get hit more than twice during the entire battle.

EDIT 3: My reflexes are not fast enough for me to turn around when running to where he's going after a hit. Yes, this is pathetic. Yes, it is screwing me.

EDIT 4: Sure enough, I managed to win by abusing that blue-screen-flicker slowdown glitch that happens when I go full-screen. (I was unable to do even this against Tartaros, FWIW.) Now to see if I can do it without cheating. :P

EDIT 5: Did it. Definitely easier than Tartaros if it only took me that long - heck, I think Medusa took longer. And then, of course, I accidentally walked back into his room trying to heal and almost died before I saved, lol.

This boss heals for various reasons:

  • Heals Between Phases which is a good sign.
  • When you use a potion, Din's Fire, or Nayru's Love.
  • Just generally time to time in his 3rd phase.

Those may not be the only reasons he heals, but those are the ones I remember.

I've actually fought him once, thinking I was doing good, he wasn't hitting me at all, but the battle seemed to go on forever, and what I realized is that he was healing faster than I was hitting him, so it does pay to get very aggressive in his 3rd phase or you'll be caught in the same trap.

Yeah, realizing that made it easy enough. :P

And now that I'm back to fighting Stan, a question: how the hell do you dodge the fast double wave of tornadoes? I can't seem to do it at all, let alone when he leads with it after summoning the Death Knights.

EDIT: Clarifying. I mean when he does two sweeps - one is easy.

EDIT 2: Second question - how many Light Arrows does he take in his final form?

EDIT 3: Scratch all of this - I just won, thanks to the prize from the other boss. (So thanks for that! :P)

The item he drops makes Tartaros much easier. You might not wanna save with that item if you wanna beat him legit.

Most people's who's beaten Tartaros has not used this item because this boss is a relatively new boss recently added in as a cameo from something else Evan is doing.

If of course you just want to beat him, go ahead and use the item. :P

...Ah, darn it, too late. :/ Eh, at this point, I kind of just wanted to get it out of the way, so no harm done.

In any case: I have the password now. Where do I put it? The Cheats menu doesn't seem to accept it...

EDIT: Got it.
