I didn't touch the global variables, so the update should be fine. You probably just ran out of dialogue for your current progress... I only wrote so much. Once you get another major item, you should start getting more messages.

I'm still playing on the original quest file and it's been a while since I heard any voices. I'm starting to miss it even though it's gotten me killed a few times

Could I get a vague hint on how to get the blue key by the red/blue switch?

 

And with the update, the second boss was a (relative) pushover. No real strategy, just run up and whack him with the sword until he died.

You need to use the boomerang to get it, though perhaps not in the way you first think of.

Btw, I still can't figure the freaking source of magic in the castle :S

How can I go to the left part of the room in the basement with the wizzrobe and the blue key? I'm totally confused. HEEEEEEELP!

This key has been sitting there taunting me.

Any hints on this, Am I missing something?

Not sure how people are tanking the second fight, even after the update... =/ He should have a powerup that explicitly prevents this.

 

AirLuigi, since wizrobes teleport and magic is ranged, you don't need to get to the other side of the lava river in that room, although being able to see the other side (with the red candle) will help.

 

Goat, not sure what items you have, but you may need one that you don't... Study the room carefully and look at where the key is for some ideas.

I don' t find any room that match the symbol of the magic artifact. The wizzrobe shoots to the artifact, but I don't find the partner in any room or place

Hmm, I'm certain you've seen it by now. Check your map on F2.

Mmmm, no.... the chain doesn't work, I don't know why. I shoot with the wizzrobe ton of times and nothing happened in floors 2 and the top with the magic artifacts. I have them all well placed...
