This quest is a chore to play. Apart from the scripted spectacle, the overworld and dungeons are bad designed. I'm in Level 3 and I think I'm ready to give up after this dungeon. It's better than the original Flow of Time, but not by much. Too much unnecessary backtracking, repetitive ideas, unfitting music.... I appreciate the work you put with the scripts, but that can't carry the entire quest. The dungeons are very annoying without any reason, and it's hard to me to put attention in this desorganised overworlds.

Really enjoying this quest so far, never played the original so this is completely blind. I'm up to Level 2. Good (and logical) use of Gameboy Zelda graphics with actual real palettes (more GBZ quests fail to use the actual overworld palettes), couldn't ask for more in the visual department. The story is going somewhere good, very GBZ like which is the appeal (again). Gameplay is fun, scripts are added into necessary places and only that.

Overall this quest is coming off as 5 star material for me, while not entirely faithful to the original Gameboy Zelda, it still has that feel, and that's what's selling it.

@zcfan:
I don't quite now how this could happen, but I just ran through and it did it to me too. I think I've fixed the issue, can I send you the updated file and you see if it works before I re-update? :)

@Air Luigi:

I am sorry you feel that way. Everyone has their own opinion though and while I personally can't see what you mean (especially with the overworld comment), I'm not really offended except for the "not by much" as so much effort went into making it a significant improvement.

@Shane:

I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)

I don't like how you structure the overworlds, they are bland. I like more attention to detail and more variety of landscapes. The quest with the milk, wood and the bridge was really unnecessary and only adds padding to the game. The cave systems is something than usually I love, but not in the way you used them in this quest. There are too much backtracking to the cave systems, from the dungeons. You abuse of that trick too much.

The dungeons... simply they don't flow well. I don't have any fun exploring them, or any sense of accomplishment. I'm forcing my way through the quest. They lack the "fun factor" in his layouts.

I think the problem with this remastered version, it's that the quest carried a lot of flaws from the original design.

I would try to advance a bit more, though, to give more feedback.

@jwex001:
He's 19 or 20 hits, I can't quite remember which. I'm working on an update for tonight, since somehow the game decided to mess up on the trading sequence to level 5 (even I've tested it quite a bit!) and I'm willing to consider lowering his difficulty a small amount.

I don't intend for him to be too hard - but not a pushover either. :)

Same problem with the raft, also when I give the other brother the letter, nothing seems to happen; Maron says what a nice harp I have, but nothing seems different there, either

Just finished level 4.

Can I ask, is there any point to the two rooms in the top left? (as shown on map above)

Go back to Gly'cov village. There should be a workman there who will help you build a bridge...

You then need to explore the forest, and loan loan ranch. Thats all I'm saying.

Im now stumped myself. Just finished level 4, and was told by Aurelia to meet the Gorons… But can't find them… anywhere...

So, you know the breaking tile glitch I mentioned yesterday? Turns out that same problem also pops up on the first Dodongo room on the western half of that dungeon. Now with the way that is structured, I have no idea how one would go about to fix those, but yeah... Eh, at least the adjacent wall/ceiling isn't walk-throughable. So much sequence-breaking would be had if it was. But alas, that is not the case...

Also, that one key below the petrified mushroom is very well hidden. I only managed to find it by random chance >_<. Maybe you could add a 'key ding' in the above room too? Of course, I don't know if said 'key ding' would actually stop playing upon picking up the key in the hidden room, but still.

EDIT:

Note that each "section" of the DoT looks a lot like previous stages? You're currently in the Level 3-section. Now, how did you make progress in Level 3 again?
