If you're where I think you are, the place needs to be night for the key, and it's probably the one you find on those two floating platforms to the left of the stairwell you use to reach them. The other one is fairly obvious to get IIRC

And still even the thought of a Hero Mode in this quest frightens me after getting through 9 levels on normal in this quest.
This is pretty incredible considering you went from the final boss on Very Easy to the bonus boss which ignores difficulty below normal mode. Good job!
Don't underestimate arieltap. I believe she beat the Temple of Cole without advice. ;p

I beat Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden 2: Dark Sword of Chaos, Ninja Gaiden 3: Ancient Ship of Doom, Battletoads, Contra, Super C, Castlevania, and Ghost 'n' Goblins...

Honestly, it's not that bad. Hero mode only starts getting tough at level 5, and level 6 is a step backwards in difficulty. By level 7 onward, you can reasonably grind golden moblin for rupees and you can potion spam to your hearts content from there on, but it's not always necessary.
All the dungeons have multiple shortcuts and life-giving pots, so death isn't as tragic as it could be. Mind you, I'm only in level 9 in my hero run, but I don't see it getting much rougher until final Venser and Tartaros.

Starlight Temple and parts of Echoing Shrine can also be pretty tough in my experience.Honestly, it's not that bad. Your right, I did find the floating platform key but have not managed to get to the room above to fall down (I presume that is how you do it)

Yeah, to get there just go up the stairs one screen to the right. If they aren't there, you missed a puzzle in the same room solved from the other side.

In case anybody was curious, Venser is freaking tough on hero mode. Took about 30-45 minutes of resetting and smashing my face into him to win. But now that that's done, it's just a matter of blasting through the final three levels, and then my real challenge: Blighted Abyss and it's dark charge. Stan, I'm coming for you.

Geez, I finally figured out you meant the dark and light side. I thought you were referring to the other side of the temple (there is a puzzle there too you know). but I have it now and thank you for the help (it's not your fault I am so dense hehe)

Hero Mode beaten, Bonus Boss felled, all bosses (sans bonus boss) beaten with no potions, Sunken Basin done with blue tunic. It's safe to say I've completed this quest. Now to mess around with my special prize...

I got as far as deeply into level 12 - missing the boss key. I've seen you tube videos of the rest and it would be very difficult for me to finish, but that doesn't bother me. The play has been simply magnificent. All facets that make a quest great have been further developed to greater greatness. It is a fantastic effort!! In a while, I'll go back and replay it so as to drink in the richness once more!! Questmakers should take notes on this puppy, as it truly is the top dog in the database! And that ain't no bull!!

So, I don't know if this was intended, by I just noticed you can use the Gale Boomerang to possess enemy projectiles and control them like you can normally with the Galerang. It's kinda neat to do it with Sword Beams since they look really funny going in circles.
All you need to do is to hold down the Boomerang button like normal to control it, but keep holding it and hit a projectile that it can reflect and you'll start controlling the projectile instead.
To try out for yourself, I find the Zoras work well with their fireballs to get it to work.
