Actually, you don't need the wand to be able to fight the Spirit of Passion. I remember fighting her before the Spirit of Life. You need the wand to fight the Spirit of Knowledge. You get the wand after beating the Spirit of Passion, who is located in the south-east portion of the lava floor.
Edit: And before I forget... To any one else out there thats stuck here, remember this: As there are two keys to a floor, two keys are need to access its miniboss, and the order you should fight them in to avoid confusion is:
1) The Spirit of Life (Forest Floor)
2)The Spirit of Passion (Lava Floor)
3)The Spirit of Knowledge (to find this one, take the last two keys after getting the wand and go to the south-western starcase, in the forest area[ not the one near where you get the big key])(Water Floor).
One last note...
As you don't need any of the dungeon items to find any of the keys (boss key included, though you have to defeat one of the bosses to get it), I would also advise you to find all of the keys in the dungeon before you fight any of the bosses. Keeping a floor check list is also a good way to keep track of things.

I am in the spirit palace now, and I have found 4 of the 6 keys, both of which I am missing are on the water floor, although I can't find either of the keys. Uhh... a bit of help here?

2 Wolfblin Fort, Moblin Forest, Bow and arrow
3 Blazing Inferno, Death Mountain, ladder and magic boomerang
4 Cerbat Shrine, Cerbat desert, red lantern and whistle
5 Spirit temple, Graveyard, Wand and Lvl 1 bracelet
6 Rorirow temple (I know I spelled that wrong lol), Mt Frost, hammer and the mirror shield
7 Season Isle, Raft across from Autumn town, Silver arrow and din's fire
8 Citidel, Citidel area, Fire boomerang and master sword
I think most of that is correct, it's been a while since I played and yet I still remember quite a bit of this.
BTW: Man this thread is popular, this says a lot about this quest and how awesome it is. I probably said this before but I'll say it again: Awesome job on making this great quest Shoelace

I am wondering why you wanted to do this information. As it isn't a normal question people ask. lol. Anyways, here is what cousinoer5 wrote but updated a lot:
2 Fort Wolfblin , Moblin Forest, Bow and arrow
3 Blazing Inferno, Death Mountain, ladder and magic boomerang
4 Cerbat Shrine, Cerbat desert, red lantern and Ocarina
5 Spirit temple, Lorbi Graveyard, Wand and Lvl 1 bracelet
6 Rorriow temple, Mt. Frost, hammer and the mirror shield
7 Season Isle, Sail south from Autumn town, Silver arrow and din's fire
8 Underground Citadel/Hyrule Castle, Citadel area, Fire boomerang and master sword
Here is the map of the overworld:

SBDjango: As you can see Autumn Town is west of Hyrule Field.
Revfan9: The keys are here: From the top left corner of the water floor go one screen down and hit the switch to raise the water. Hookshot to the torch. then go down. You will have to hit the bugs with the bow and arrow. Lower the water, and then hit the bugs in the same order as last time. That should lead you to the key.
The next one start from the top right corner, make the water go up, raft south two screens, then go left one screen. In this screen, kill all of the baddies and the key will appear.
Hope that helps all of you guys.

Lmao.. I felt like I was in wrong place at the wrong time alot. And sometimes, I didn't know how to get through some puzzles without knowing the items.
I was in lv. 8, and needed to know if I missed anything, was the real reason.

While trying to figure it out(I still haven't found it) I took time to try to get some items. I checked the libary in autumn town and learned some interesting things and I only need to finish the Hero which has to go through the Dark and Light world.(I think I need the red lantern.)

1) After lowering the brown blocks using the block switch station in the south eastern portion of the map, go back to the room that had a warp blocked by the boss key block. Use that warp, and after showing up in the room it takes you to, go south. This will lead to the dungeons second mini-boss and a key.
2) after collecting that key, take the warp and head back to the entrance(IMPORTANT: Do not quit the game or the blocks will be reset.) When you back at the entrance, shoot both eye statues with an arrow and take the path they open up. Follow this path and eventually you come across a chest in the south western most room. The key is in that chest.
One last note: Could you be more specific in the future when asking for help?
Edit: Yet another last note: In the room with the dodondago, look very carefully at the wall north of the stonefloor with the two tourches on it. This could also be the key you're missing.
Yet another edit: Just fixing a grammar error.

Um... I really didn't say how to beat her, but your welcome anyway. Anywho, the Magic Sword is located In cave acessed through a house in the windy peaks area( located due west of the M.T.Frost area). The house is located on the mountain top. You have to pay to get in( like, fifteen ruppes or something close to that.) And if you haven't done so already, now would be a good time to go after the hero statues. You WILL need the blue tunic, the book, and the double magic upgrade to get through this particular quest.
One last note(per usual): If you think level five is bad, just wait untill level 8. You will never look at spikes, lava, and the first boss from ALTTP the same way again.
Edit: Blast it. Shoelace beat me to it. I was typing this post when he typed his.
