Also, is there any way past that fire without taking 8 hearts of damage? I figured the item from the 2nd boss would make you immune, but it sadly doesn't (which would've been cool).

Believe it or not, the fact that slide block puzzles take a long time to solve is exactly why I put them here. Focusing on puzzles like these and taking the time to slowly get the pieces in place is a very good way to clear your mind, and come back out of it with a fresh view at the rest of the quest. (Of course, taking a break is as well, but I can really only suggest this.) The standard push block puzzles serve a similar purpose. I tried very hard to mix up the pacing during the quest. Also, given the room above the one with the slide puzzle, I wanted something that could be solved entirely on the floor of the room (i.e. with no solid pieces.) I fully understand distaste for the particular puzzle, but there is a reason for it, and I don't really think it's out of place (okay, maybe the images are, but I had to inject SOME personality.)

Sephiroth, it is true that the quest hardly explicitly teaches you anything, but it does give you ample opportunity to learn. Wandering around aimlessly likely won't get you anywhere, but more pointed experimentation may. I suppose the difference is not so clear, so I expect this is probably just as much of a put-off, but if you decide to give it another go, try interacting with the surroundings a bit more carefully.

As a general tip to those who have yet to find any items, try to go east to get to the Basin. This may not be where you need to go, but try using what you had to do to get there in other places.

I'm stuck for the first time >.< I have the necklace and I have a red key, and apparently I need a second red key to advance in the castle. Any tip about where to go now? I have a blue key also, but it's useless (for now).

How can I learn when I have absolutely no idea how the mechanics of the quest even work? Plus I'm getting sick and tired of dying every time I turn around because I have absolutely nothing to defend myself with. There's like no instruction at all, which while some people may love this, unfortunately someone like myself, I can't really grasp any concepts unless I can see (or know how it works) and understand what is going on. Sure, I've discovered the clever usage of layering in this quest, but I'm getting absolutely sick and tired of wandering around aimlessly, hugging walls and hoping I find walk-throughs only to be massacred by the enemies who seem to have an exceedingly high homing rate since the enemies tend to be right on top of me. ... If only I could actually defend myself, but nope; you start off with nothing and there's no clues or hints as to what to do to begin with. That introductory story also doesn't mention much of anything aside from the fact its an island with a rather large castle on it. Not dissing the story here, but what I am dissing is the lack of direction given to a new player. Most puzzle games start off simple, and include a way of teaching the player the general game mechanics. This one fails in this regard as it just drops you into the game, and there's nothing taught to the player. That's what I don't like about this quest, and I cannot forsee myself getting too far in it, as I do lack the patience to just wander around aimlessly with no clue on what to do. Oh well, to each their own.

e: The only hint I found in the game was the shopkeep in one of the only two houses in "Town" (Why the heck is it considered a town when there's only TWO HOUSES in the entire area?!?!?!) is talking about locating a mushroom from the caves in the taiga. ... So of course I did indeed find said mushroom, only to be blocked by a push (heavy) rock. So I'm back to square one again, clueless as ever.

Then, you can start to do progress. Exploit layering in new ways 8-D Figuring the mechanics of this quest is all the fun. Starting is the hardest part, though.

I'm stuck here, basically.

My reaction when I see the red block:

No freaking idea about where to go now, all are roadblocks.

So many times I notice something, think its odd, and then it takes me forever to come back and realize that there was the solution.

If you're feeling blue, remember that F3 is a thing...

I actually think that the town screens are wonderfully designed to teach you what is going on.

What to do in the room with a single floor switch (castle second floor)? Apparently, you have to push a jar, but it's impossible.
