Well, one of the rules of this quest is... "use the lens in suspicious places". The places are quite evident, honestly. With the exception of L4, I didn't know that rule at that time.
I (re)finished L6 and this quest is a blast... 8 hours 30 minutes, four deaths, normal mode. The first half of levels is simply perfect.

I should mention that I did beat the second boss with (mostly) arrows, and the third AND fourth bosses with bombs.
I think the difficulty level of this particular quest is great. It is made to be challenging but (as far as Level 9) I don't think it's ever unfair. Almost every enemy has some weakness and I love how they're not always telegraphed or specifically stated by npcs. I especially find experimenting with different weapons on boss fights to see what works better and what doesn't extremely fun. In Nintendo games you always know you should try to use the dungeon item and that I MO makes bosses more like puzzles than fights.

I really want to thank you for a long, well thought out post. I'll try and address this as best as I can.
I haven't even touched the postgame stuff, I'm pretty much mid-gameish. And I've heard the postgame is made of nightmares. So I'm probably going to glance at it at most. And then try and grind my way through it. Though I honestly believe that it's difficulty really shouldn't affect everything else, becuase to be perfectly honest, everything else would be geniunely awesome if it was just slightly toned down here and there. And to note, it's been about 4 years since I last touched a zc quest, so my skills have long since rusted.
Though I do remember being able to beat some of the older, stupid difficult quests on here, though that was, uh, geez like 4-5 years ago? (Man I'm old now.) I mean, I think I was the only that thought Ballad of a Bloodline was awesome while everyone else had difficulty with it, so... :tard:
Well I'm glad you find it fun to a degree, but I really don't expect a fangame to be universally regarded as on par with the official series. While I'm flattered that several people seem to think so, expecting that as a consensus is just unrealistic. The official series is developed by an extremely talented group of people with decades of experience in game design and the Zelda series in general. I don't think I'd ever be able to match that level of game design skill.
You've managed to come quite close, so you'll probably be able to reach it with time. There's enough neat stuff to keep me wanting to come back.

So I just defeated the Angel Lumen rematch at level 12 on hero mode. I gotta say, I will not be doing a perfect run on that boss ... ever.

I'm curious, did you use Venser's Cane at all during the fight? Not trying to discredit you because that's still really insane but I just wanna know. Because if so... ![]()

I used everything I had at my disposal. Yes, I did use Venser's Cane, both potions, Naryu's Love, and a lot of luck. It has been a very onerous past hour and a half.
I went back and used the portal sphere. The boss was actually fun to fight.

Ah. Gotcha. I used the cane too and didn't take it out of rustle mode myself, though I knew the trick. I somehow managed it. ![]()

For starters, there's the difficulty, which is considerably higher than the usual nintendo standard.
This quest has an adjustable difficulty system. If you find yourself constantly blocked by the difficulty, have you tried lowering it? After you've died a few times, a passage appears on the OW starting screen and gives you the option to make the game easier. That being said, difficulty in itself is not a bad thing, unfair difficulty is, but this quest is always fair. Tough but fair. A game being too difficult for you may mean it's just not a game for you though, sure.
As for not being able to guess the bosses' weaknesses immediately, that's part of the gameplay (having to try all your items on an enemy until you find what works is typical Zelda fare), I'm not following why it's a bad thing.

You know about the buggy save files in 2.5, right? If you opened 2.5 immediately after closing the program, your saves will be gone forever. It's very easy to avoid... if you know it.
