Poll: Grated vs. Shredded Cheese

Refrigerated Parmesan is a thing of the past, guys, it's time we all learn to eat soap, since it's just a bar of animal fat, I mean, seriously, Animal Fat sound delicious, but then you realize that = soap.

I grate my own cheese and I am very grateful for it.

That's great.

I nulled, because I don't like parmesan cheese. Why would you ruin perfectly good pasta with it?

Weird ... I chose shredded because faced with two identical options in the fridge, I'd always choose that one.

But here's the kicker. I ALWAYS BUY GRATED INSTEAD OF SHREDDED FROM THE STORE!!

What ... am I?

By what abominable means do you consume your pasta, then?

Shredded.  Although if I am making pasta the sauce likely already has parmesan in it.

I don't buy that pre-grated/shredded crap.

Definitely grated. There's just no other way.

I prefer grated myself. Although when I go out to Macaroni Grill, they actually have a block of cheese they shred for your pasta dishes. I love my Penne Rustica don't get me wrong, but I still prefer grated over shredded cheese.

Grated has a more satisfying texture to me, and I like the slightly more concentrated saltiness. It's more fun to chew on when you're too lazy to buy real food.

For any and all proper cooking purposes: shredded parmesan. For breading grilled cheese sandwiches: graded parmesan.

Cannot stand grated parmesan cheese. It's like you're eating the experience of sitting through an everybody loves raymond marathon - it has no flavor, leaves your mouth feeling uncomfortably dry, and you regret ever touching it.

By you I mean me, in case there was any confusion.

Though all cheeses are inferior to gorgonzola.
