I have given in and fixed many issues with the original quest. I did not make any scripting changes, so the pits will be just as buggy as they have always been. But you can use your existing save file, if you want.

 

Changes include fewer shutter rooms, the magic armor no longer uses magic, the lightning medallion gives straight-up infinite magic instead of just slowly restoring it, the cane has improved range, the secret tunnel boss is less stupid, and palette changes, among many other things.

 

Look for the update to be ready soon after this post appears. As of right now (3:33PM EST), it has not yet been processed.

Hmm, ether medallion does recover magic fairly quickly, it's the same speed that the cane of byrna drains magic, which is pretty fast at double magic by the way.

 

Magic armor never really had a problem with that given I always had ether medallion, and I don't think magic was an issue as long as I didn't have the cane on as well, which is useless on Ganon anyway.

 

Secret tunnel boss is just one long ordeal.  I don't bother breaking the eggs, but rather try to leave a loop I can go in a circle with to wear down the boss.  The aftermath is a bit stupid, but the cane minimizes the problem in the 3 or so seconds I can use it.

 

Level 5 boss is a bit ridiculous given how many fire rod hits it takes.  Barely have enough magic with 1/2 magic upgrade

 

Agahnim in level 8 is also a bit off given there's no set rhythm to go off of, unlike in LttP, where the real one and shadows teleport at the same time, thus resulting in only having to focus on one thing at a time.

Mothula is also pretty vulnerable to arrows and the sword. I tried to make bosses that are vulnerable to magic weapons also vulnerable to non-magic weapons as well.

 

Plus almost everything is weak to super bombs. :>

 

But yeah. When the update appears later, check it out.

Wait, so how exactly does it work?  Suppose you don't have the ether/lightning medallion but you do have the magic armor...how many hits can link take before the magic armor reverts into his previous armor/tunic?

Fwiw, I kinda liked how the clones were de-synced.

Previously,  magic armor drained entire magic gauge in 3-4 hits (2-3 w/o 1/2 magic).

The magic armor just behaves like normal armor now. I think there's still a text string in there somewhere that says it does, come to think of it, but now it's a lie.

completed level one already....nub question!!? where's that magic mirror..? (the one to turn day to night) , forgot the location :confused:

if you're referring to the one to change worlds, that's in hyrule castle after you get L2 sword

well, been trying to LP this, but updates keep coming out, which is fine.  Hard to remember everything, which is why I have my own master map of everything in the quest

dark forest area.  Use a portal on the east side of the light world.  Need lantern

Can't seem to get through skull woods. Is there a pit I'm supposed to fall through?  All pits I tried so far i this quest don't work.

Make sure you are playing the quest in the final release build of Zelda Classic 2.5.0 or 2.51, and not one of the earlier release candidates, because a lot of the scripting won't work in earlier versions. Pits don't work in RC 4 and 5 for example.
