There's a shop where you could have bought an eagle shield after level 1, provided you also had the magic mirror. There's another good item sold in said shop as well.

Oh, didn't realize I could have even gotten magic mirror. Forgot to go back after getting flippers.
I assume the floor tiles shaped like magic mirror can be used to warp between worlds, but not able to do so here. Seems to function like the one in LttP, but doesn't create a portal in the light world to easily get back to dark world
Also, in Pendant 3, room below Big Key one can get stuck if forgot to get Big Key (up is closed, left is boss door). Maybe could get rid of that boss door

The Magic Mirror tiles are merely a hint that you should try using the mirror there(If in dark world) or using the mirror where that tile would be in the dark world where you see it in the light world.

Hmm, interesting. Though I think there are other visual cues to hint where to use the mirror as well, as can be tricky to visualize that spot in the light world with the mirror symbol. Hopefully you get stuck in a mountain or something so that you go back to dark world to try again. Otherwise, it's a small trip back to the original portal

The Mirror is the entire reason why I kept the overworld graphics so simplistic; it's easier to remember the differences between the two worlds that way.

I'm really enjoying this so far, and I'm a huge fan of the music, especially the remixes in the Dark World dungeons.
However, I'm stuck in lv 4. I've uncovered most of the map, but I haven't gotten the hammer. I assume it's this dungeon's item, but I don't have the big key yet. In the northern part of the upper floor, there's a key gate, but I'm missing the key for it. There's also a maze path in the area, but it seems I can't complete it without the hammer (and I actually have to F6 to escape it).
Can anyone help me out? Thanks. ![]()
Edit: I looked at Eppy's playthrough for a clue, and realized I wasn't playing on the most recent version. The maze path issue is fixed now and I was able to progress. Upgrading the file fixed all the problems ever.

Yeah, I updated the quest a total of 23 times.
Which is far too much. Q744 is the most-updated quest in the history of Zelda Classic.
At this point it's relatively bug-free, but I do know of a few small bugs. I don't know if I'm going to ever upload update 24 with fixes or not. I might if people start begging me to if they find something huge and game-breaking, but so far no one has said anything about that (at least with the current build.)

Things I know about:
- A few strings have some issues (pickup string for Magic Mirror says it uses magic when it does not; a word is omitted from the end-boss speech)
- Extra boss key door in pendant 3 that doesn't need to exist (and can force an F6 out if you didn't grab the key)
- Possible layout failure in level 7 where you can't get back up to an upper floor and have to F6 to an entrance (I need to look at this myself and possibly just give a single room a screen flag to fix it)
- Gray Armored Goriyas (the boomerang darknuts, aka Australian Darknuts) may have the wrong item drop set assigned

Hey Bagel, lovin' the hell outta this quest. Gave ya 5 stars.
So I am at the literal threshold of Ganon's room, and I notice that there are only 3 things I haven't done, and it's gonna kill me if I came this close to 100% and didn't get everything. So besides Ganon, I have to:
-Get the last heart piece (no idea where, got every near-dungeon PoH)
-Get the 3rd Medallion (no idea where, already got Hammerquake & Hurricane Spin)
-Beat the Secret Tunnel
Any hints on these? Are one of my 2 missing items a reward for the Tunnel?

I'm to the boss in the secret tunnel. I got it to a point where it wasn't summoning any more and proceeded to throw all I had at it. ... And it just wouldn't go down. Is there some weakness I'm missing, or do I just have to beat on it more with the sword?

Secret tunnel boss has a ton of health, so just keep beating on it. It really shouldn't stop summoning unless there are too many enemies in the room; it will keep dropping eggs every time it does the high jump. Hurricane spin works well. Once it is dead, though, any eggs in the room will hatch, so have some bombs or hammer quake ready.
As far as heart pieces, make sure you check places like Death Mountain (in both worlds) and look for blue-green rocks in a couple areas in the dark world, as well as bombable walls. Also a commonly-missed heart piece is the one in the pyramid, since it is in a small separate section requiring you to go outside.

That's what it is. I managed to max out the number of eggs while still having some space to dodge. I found that much simpler than trying to take on the eggs as he dropped them, but if they'll all hatch at once when he's beaten I'm not sure how to proceed. Maybe this thing is just too much for me ... which is unfortunate, considering I made it through the entire dungeon to reach him. I haven't tried the hurricane spin, though, so maybe that will help. Thanks.

That whole dungeon is designed to be frustrating and kinda dumb, so I felt like this particular boss fit it. I didn't want to make another Moosh's Ways though, so I didn't go as far as I could feasibly have gone, I guess.

Aevin- Good hints. I just got to him last night and was tearing my damn hair out trying to beat that ginormic tactite. Funny you mentioned the 'dodge the maxed out eggs' tactic, as I also noticed this and if you can maneuver between them, it makes the fight much easier. Still I think hit him like 50 times and have no idea how much further I had to go.
Bagel- I am a very well-seasoned zelda player, especially on ZC, I am very familiar with where to bomb for secrets and how some areas are locked out of reach for a time until you have the item to get it. I know where to look. I have looked high and low in both worlds and know for a fact that I have gotten every one near/in a dungeon. Yes I got the pyramid one, that was easy. I guess I'm asking, is there a final Piece of Heart that you can only get like after you have all the items, or maybe can only be gotten with one of the last items? Or maybe a hint to one very commonly overlooked that isn't a dungeon Heart Piece?
Also, the 3rd Medallion? Any clues there?
Oh, and btw, this isn't really related to the quest, but your avatar pic is awesome. Which game is that from?
