Stuck in Lvel 5, still easy mode. I have the hookshot, map, compass; got some keys, used some keys. There is a room two screens north from the entrance with one chest, a statue and a shutter. I can't open this shutter. Seems like I need the bracelet, or what...?

bomb the statue, push the block that appears on the right side to open the shutter. Yes, by level 5, you NEED the bracelet.

It is, you'll need to use the Lens of Truth to find it.

First of all, thanks to those who help. It's much appreciated.

I'm on level-5 of the first (easy) quest. I get to a room with 4 spinning spike/blade things in each corner along with 4 stars on the ground. As far as I can tell, I'm supposed to hit each of the 4 stars in sequence and then push the block onto the switch--all within a very short time frame before I'm pushed back out to the entry way.

Am I missing something in here? I've tried it for a while and cannot get it done in time. Even if I just take the hits, still isn't fast enough. Am I missing something? I have the hook shot (obviously) and bracelet.

You must be quick at hitting the Star Switches and pushing the block to open the door.
I did a video on this before. But, this was in the Xtreme Mode of the quest.

Thanks. I guess I'm just slow. I noticed in your video that you have a red jacket. I'm still blue. Should I have found the red by now?

As I stated in my last post, it is the Xtreme Mode of Origin. I posted the video because someone also had this problem as you.
You won't get the Red Mail until Level-9.

Right okay. Thanks. Just finished level 5. Took both of my potions to get through that star room but was smooth sailing from there. I appreciate the help.

Glad to help.

Also an advice for Level-6. Make sure you have the Potion and the Magical Shield. It will be tough.

some people find those timing challenges insanely easy, and others find it insanely hard. Its tough to find that right balance it seems.

I was wondering if perhaps the system and/or joystick effect those timing challenges. I have the 2nd bow (I don't know how many there are) and cannot for the life of me get the arrow target practice thing. I've tried and tried. But the bomb and boomerang challenges weren't too tough.

I had trouble as well with the arrow target practice as well.

Coming from original Zelda for NES, this is a great custom quest. There are new things to learn (super bombs, lens of truth, etc.) but all in all, I have some familiarity with what I'm supposed to be looking for. Great job DFW.

I've been trying not to post too often in here and figure out what I can. However, I do have a list of questions that if anyone has any information or clues I would appreciate it.

1. Does anybody know if/how to get sound working in Linux?

2. A cave above the graveyard has 2 rooms, the north room has spikey things and a closed door. Rumor has it, I can move one of the blocks in there if I have the bracelet. I have the bracelet but was not able to move any of the blocks. Did I understand this correctly?

3. How many swords and bows are there in the 1st quest?

4. There are a couple of vines which start half-way up and thus cannot be reached. I though the ladder would accomplish this, but apparently not. I'm in level-6 and can't think of any other tools I'll be getting that will help me get up those vines (one is just north of the village).

Cheers!

There is a boulder that needs to be pushed to open that door.

3 Swords (Wooden, White, and Magical) and two bows. By now, you have the L-2 Bow that fires arrows quicker.

There is a brush that can be burned with the candle. It will reveal more of the vine.

I cannot answer #1 because I don't know about Linux. icon_sorry.gif
