Sorry for two posts in a row, but Quest 744 is now finished. Like ... it's not getting any more updates.

This last bugfix update also included more detailed minimaps; they show the locations of stairways and the big chest as well as larger rooms. Hopefully it's more useful than the boring default minimap.

Master Quest progress will be slow as I don't have a lot of time, but I'll eventually set up a Quest Project. Once I have something to show for it, anyway.

Hey Bagel, awesome quest. Been keeping me busy the last few days. =)

I started May 28th, was up to level 4 and then you put out the final update which was great timing. I like the detailed maps and everything.

Just one problem though.. I don't know if this is a new glitch, but it's pretty serious and may have completely stunted any further progress for me. I'm on level 6 right now and I got to the big key. So I got to the big chest 2 rooms north of the entrance.. It was just a piece of heart. I checked the old youtube videos of your quest and it looks like it was supposed to be the power gloves.. unless it got moved since then? (The video is like a year old). The only thing I haven't double checked yet are the dark rooms. Was that chest supposed to be a piece of heart or was that an error? Thanks! Can't wait to finish this quest.

Edit: Nevermind, ironically reading your above post, I didn't realize big chests were also outlined in the detailed maps, and I saw the one I missed. In the room with the wierd light up tiles, I bombed left to get the medicine before, but I totally missed the wall on the right. I feel dumb lol. Great stuff in this quest though!

Wow, this quest is awesome.. Just finished the secret tunnel. Maxed out inventory with just one piece of heart missing. I'm guessing that it's in the final dungeon (Hyrule Castle). Haven't gone back there yet, taking a quick break, I remember Sahrarhaslharalhasha saying something about the 8 crystals there and the bottomless pit. Nice touch with using that as the 8 triforce pieces. =)

I used to be around back when Jer was developing ZC solo. Dang, I was probably in middle school back then. This was when his Demo Quest was being developed.. I remember the times between when he had only the "I" dungeon, then the "J" dungeon being released and how awesome that was, finally getting level 1, then level 2, then the huge controversy with level 3 and being able to screw yourself to no return.

Then there was the april fool's joke that Nintendo shut ZC down for infringement. I don't think I saw so many children and teenagers cuss so much on the internet before that. =D

I can't believe how much this project has grown. I wish I stumbled back into ZC and played this quest as it was being developed. Seriously, great job on this quest. It felt very "stock" Nintendo the whole time through. There's things being done with the quest that I didn't even imagine possible 10 years ago, and you did a freakin great job putting it all together (and all those who helped). This would have been nice to discover before A Link Between Worlds being released and me wanting to cry waiting for it.

I very much look forward to any future quests you may create!

I'm going over the soundtrack and uhhhh ... enhancing it a bit now that I have some better audio hardware and more knowhow. The original soundtrack will remain available but the enhanced enhanced soundtrack will be much larger, remastered, sometimes remixed, and at a higher bitrate.

I'm glad you enjoyed my quest that much, by the way. I tried really hard to get it to feel as much like an official Nintendo game as I could. Don't be afraid to leave a review on the quest page ;)

I don't know if I'll ever have the motivation to make another quest though; this one was pretty tough. Make sure you play The Hero's Memory, Promised Lands, and of course Isle of Rebirth, too.

I've been playing this for the last week and I'm really enjoying it a lot. I finished Dungeon 4 of the dark world. I'm not sure how I can't find Level 5... but I can't find level 5. Could someone point in the right direction please? :)

Edit; Never mind I found the dungeon... an Ice dungeon yay

I've put up a video preview on the Q744 Master Quest project page.

Some of the levels will get larger changes than others.

I've uploaded a demo of the Master Quest. It encompasses just the first three initial dungeons and then ends.

I realize that it won't be there long, but I'd like to say thank you to all those who supported and suffered for this quest, as it has just peaked at the number two spot in the database. I didn't expect much response at all since I didn't hype it up much outside of the Skype group that I usually visit, and I'm glad people seem to enjoy it. I did this for fun, after all. Also so I could pester people endlessly to play it because I've developed a bit of an ego problem, but I'm starting to get over that a bit.

Again, thank you!

I updated the enhanced music tonight.

How much has changed this quest since the first release? I'm thinking in to give it another shot, but I have really bad memories from L6-7... That was weird, because the rest of dungeons were fun. Maybe I was unlucky for playing this too early...

You may enjoy it a bit better now. Levels 6 and 7 have had some pretty drastic overhauls, the overworld is more convenient to get around, a couple bosses have been tweaked, level 7's boss is totally replaced (as is 6's) and there are lots of small touches like making the village more useful and enhanced minimaps. Basically the earlier updates to the quest added larger, sweeping changes, and the smaller updates since then were just polish.

Yes, the quest is way better now. All feels way more polished and the minimaps are a nice feature. I finished L7. L6 is now one of the best levels, there aren't annoying shutters and the enemies are fair (the eggs are a good idea). The Blind heads are a nice touch, and of course, the boss. L7 doesn't have the overpowered lynels xd Overall, all is more enjoyable. Good work in that.

I have some things to comment, but I will do that when I finished the journey. But the major drawbacks are gone.

The Secret Tunnel was surprisingly easy for a secret dungeon =P I finished the quest with 4 deaths and 11 hours.

*The main weak point with this quest now, it's the slow start. There are a lot of screens to traverse that are empty. They scream "I need secrets". The quest lacks the rewarding feeling at the start. I think to have new some secrets scattered would improve the start a lot (caves underneath bushes for example, with little money secrets, potions, secret npcs... ).

*L7 really needs a scripted boss... you have scripted bosses in 1-4-5-6-8 and 9. 2-3 have good replacements. That manhandla is better than the evil creatures that you have before, but feels out of place in the quest.

*It's odd to have Mothula in the Ice Palace... Bugs don't like low temperatures.

*Chests with potions should be colored differently. It's very frustrating to waste the potions xD Green chest = green potion, Blue chest= blue potion, for example.

*The default spin attack drags too much the charge to be useful. Link would can start with a (invisible) charge ring to make the spin attack more "LTTP like".

Good luck with the Master Quest, I'm really interested now ;)

Just finished this quest today, and I personally enjoyed it quite a lot.  Loved a lot of the gimmicks (yes, even the darkness gimmick in the Palace of Darkness).  Ended with 12 H 03 M, 22 Deaths (most came from the Secret Tunnel, I swear... must've had like 6 or 7 before it, and majority came from that damn Lv 3 Patra).  I also only missed two things, though with such large dungeons, it's not hard to do so lol.

Missed: Quake Medallion, Red Tunic.

I only managed to get through the end with the Magic Armor and basically pulling an Eppy (tanking stuff, in case anyone doesn't know one of his favorite past times lol).

Wow! I have no idea how you survived the Secret Tunnel without the red tunic; that's the first I've heard of that (I couldn't do it.) In the newest versions of the quest you can see where (most) large chests are on your minimap, at least, to get an idea where those items you missed are located.
