My design intent with the final boss was to get your heart pounding as fast as possible as it ends. All of the mechanics of the fight contribute to that. The ice glyph leads to a feeling of complete helplessness when it grabs you. The fire glyph makes you feel like his attacks never let up. The threat of the death rainbow (which happens more and more as he's closer to dead) ensure you never get too comfortable. I worked really hard to create that specific environment for that fight and I'm glad it seems to have paid off!

Just curious; does Venser and his two hands all share the same HP pool? Because I noticed when you hit the hands, it makes Venser's grunting noise, but I wasn't sure if that contributed to the damage. And a full row of hearts if he gets off the Murder Beam...damn. That's an entire potion's worth of life on Hero Mode O_o. So pretty much, it's one direct sword slash from the True Master Sword or two beams to disrupt Venser channeling his power?

Anyway, mostly towards Melee, in my comment on part 57, I put in a nice flavor text about what your future is going to be like :P. Don't say you weren't warned.

The hands and the body share an HP pool of 480, correct. Edit: I didn't see your second question. He needs to take 10 damage to cancel his death rainbow.

So, the villain was a being from another world who was willing to destroy an entire world all to go home. Is it just me, or does this seem like a sort of reverse Link's Awakening?

Awwww, damnit. I didn't even realize that parallel. Yeah, nice catch. When writing the game's plot, I was going for a villain who's motivation for destroying the world was a byproduct of their actual goal and not from nihilism or a lust for power or conquest.

But yeah, when you put it that way, you're absolutely right.

And I just watched today's video.

>Spots Healing Torch
>"This won't do me any good."

MW. Why. You had a free full heal and you passed it off so you could fight a Golem with 4 hearts. Why?

Part 59

It's often best to let sleeping dogs lie.  Doesn't help against the ones that are already awake, though.

I swear, I did not even consider that until you just mentioned it.  Goodness, I seem to have a thing for making things harder for myself, don't I?

That's MeleeWizard for you, making things harder on himself since the start of his LP'ing career :P.

These conveyor belt segments are pretty tough, mostly because you have to go through it without making a single mistake.

A good strategy is to kill all the enemies in those conveyor rooms, use nayrus love, tank the spikes, and then camp out at safe points.

With the map in hand, I won't have to stumble about blindly anymore.  Knowing me, I probably will anyway.

I swear, these statues were put in the most inconvenient places.  It's almost like they were positioned specifically to get in my way.

Considering I thought I was getting a small key from the triple-statue room, I was expecting something worse to come up later on.  In its own way, I was right.
