I will say completionism can be kinda a detrimental mindset and I'd be wary if it ever gets in the way of enjoyment. That said don't let me stop you if you're still feeling it. The thing you're hunting for does require playing out a run. It's fairly rare, but will be unmistakable when it happens. It's not like the doppel easter egg where you can wander off the screen and miss it.

Also fun unrelated fact nobody would have discovered on their own: Autimecia may not be able to use Maria's signature, but Maria can use Autimecia. :)

Yeah that's fair. I should probably stop now before I even start to feel tired in the first place.

Thanks again for the game, and the replies!

Thank you for playing! It's always nice having something I helped make be appreciated. I'm also very grateful for all the bug reports!

The content you haven't seen is very rare content barely anyone has seen (not randomness wise, but just in terms of people who have found it); you would be among a small group to experience it. Don't force yourself to see it just for the sake of seeing it though; you don't want to burn yourself out by focusing on completionism.

One final bug report I forgot to make from yesterday:

In Partner mode, Victor's* Muramasa dashing slice attack will inherit Sylvia's cooldown on her own dash if you ever switch between the two characters once finding her. It persists through save-and-quit, as well as closing Zelda Classic and reopening it. The cooldown won't trigger on a neutral swing, only if you dash with it, though holding down the button will have you continue dashing despite the erroneous cooldown now attached to it.

*I was playing as Autimecia who had his ability at the time but I assume it'd go for him too. And if the dash portion of Sylvia's ability is the same programming as others, this might affect Caelan's no-cooldown dash as well if mixed with the three robots' cooldown versions.

Now I'm taking a break, I promise, haha.

Was bored, doing a casual run. Don't worry, I'm not grinding anything out!

-I've encountered this a few times so I feel confident it's not a randomization quirk, but the northeastern-most screen of the fragmented Tlalocan zone is strange in that it's set up as a challenge screen that would award something (dodge the spikes and sawblades, hit the wind orb at the end) but I've never seen it used as an item location, and the orb doesn't appear to have an effect on the rest of the zone. Which is odd, because it requires a key to access the room. Not a bug per se, and there's no possibility of a softlock, but perhaps it's a casualty of a past map replanning?

-Zelda's Earth Star special deals wind damage instead, which causes it to trigger wind orbs, ignore earth orbs, and can't be used to demask those darknut-esque ghosts that other sources of earth damage can. Despite that, it really is powered up by the Strong Earth passive, though.

If you think it doesn't do anything, I recommend you go fight the boss before interacting with that room. ;)

Yeah, Earth is another of those weird weapon types. Yuurand in general has some oddities where the element something is considered for enemies/triggers and the element it's considered for damage calculation don't match up.

Oh.

So that's what happens if you lie to Autimecia (or at least accidentally flag your save file to think such). Hahaha this is cool.

Also fun unrelated fact nobody would have discovered on their own: Autimecia may not be able to use Maria's signature, but Maria can use Autimecia. :)

I made sure to do this just because you brought it up, haha. Though if this game ever gets worked on again outside of bug fixes, it did make me think up a goofy request since I tried this and saw that it didn't work: could the training dummy become a valid "enemy" for Maria's possession mechanic too? It'd be funny if all it did was just make her sit there unmoving, in a "what did you expect" sort of way. I tried bringing the dummy's health down by camping on the magic refill tile and mashing Laser, but the dummy's health has a hard minimum set at 50% and I don't think that's in possession range.

Ooooh, alright, my bad. Sorry about that.

I'm not sure if this room is bugged or not, but I think the item location here isn't properly spawning. It's just a coin (my last item check) so I'm not missing anything important, but I've gone over the map list so I know it's not an item finder error. I Thunder-tested it, rubbed up against all of the walls, killed the flames with Death, and spewed Magic Stream everywhere so I know I'm not missing a hidden path I'd walk under.

Also kicking myself for forgetting to write down the seed of a prior run, which had 101 coins in it. Fat chance of that ever coming up again to report it, though nothing bad happened when I picked it up so it seems benign.

Edit: "Special content" bug:

I wasn't expecting you to find both things in the same run, yet somehow I also knew it would happen and I knew it would break things. Incredible.

Also congrats on being the first to encounter the thing outside of the dev team. We'd all been waiting for it to happen this whole time since the update's release. I even accidentally mentioned it on voice call with someone who would've been interested and he somehow didn't notice. Haha.

The area itself, or the bugs I mentioned? And come to think of it, what are the odds of encountering the content organically? Because I had genuinely written it off as "save your sanity, enjoy the experience you had" with how low it was said to be, and I didn't expect to find it at all, let alone in only 1.1~ runs after literally F-ing up my save with password tinkering and being told it existed.

Dunno what game etiquette would be with what the game told me after completing it. I can keep it secret if the devs would prefer that.

Oh that comment about completionism wasn't really talking about that secret specifically, though I did figure it might be annoying grinding full runs to find it if you go for 100% every time and had nothing else to work towards.

Spoiler

Oh, heh, the completionism bit wasn't about the 100% runs. I just liked doing them but wasn't sure if it'd work against me. But it was good advice anyway.

I'll put the post-secret messages in spoiler tags in this thread, best of both worlds that way.

Sounds like Moosh already answered most things, but congrats on being the first person to find it! Like he said, feel free to share the password - we intended it to allow people who didn't pick that answer to see the area after at least one person found it.

Now you've seen almost everything in the quest. As was kinda hinted at before, there is still one final thing, but it's... extremely difficult. I can point you towards it if you'd like, but I can't guarantee you'd enjoy getting to it or the thing itself.

Edit: It seems you posted just before me. :P

I imagine it's something like "do all true final bosses on sadistic nightmare mode" or something, heh. I guess it's nothing I couldn't F4 through but I know that kills the spirit of the encounters.

Is there a point where bug reports might be too niche to be worth reporting? I've kept posting since I saw there was interest in the feedback, but I'm worried of coming off too nitpicky. But just in case; in Partner mode, Psykid's PK Flashfreeze's light attack won't inherit Horizon's "light attacks cause burning", even though it properly deals light damage.

There's also a funny unintended "hunter caught in own trap" moment on this screen where, if you blink past the diamond barrier when entering the room and stepping onto the safe zone, you'll box yourself in with cross blocks if you break an orb, and F6 is your only escape. Probably in the "too funny to fix" category but I figured better safe than sorry and report on it. Put in spoilers to conceal image size.

Also a potentially more serious one in Antoine's Keep. It was a blink-and-miss-it moment so I was unable to take a screenshot for proof, but I think I was holding both a regular key and a green key when I tried opening the green lock in the upper right area of the zone, which replaced the green lock with a pink one instead of disappearing? When I scrolled off the screen and came back, the pink lock was gone, but at some point I noticed that I lost my regular key. This prevents me from opening the normal lock in the southeast area, permanently blocking off access to 4 more rooms. I have the item finder perk so I know I didn't somehow miss picking it up.

Edit: Hahahaha Autimecia calls you out for using the password.

Also, I forgot about this last time, but you don't immediately get your stolen spells back after beating her as the final boss (and I think if you possess her as Maria from a challenge run). After loading your game again, you need to F6 to have them reset.

Edit2: Also, if you go back up the stairs from the secret library back to Autimecia's final boss room, you appear in the upper left corner of the screen.

Not that bad, thankfully. A starting hint would be to look at the reward you got for clearing sadistic mode and paying attention to that.

Is there a point where bug reports might be too niche to be worth reporting?

I'd say just report what you find. I can't guarantee I'll be able to fix them or that it'll be worth the effort to fix everyone, but it's useful to know of them, at least.

This one, thankfully, is an easy fix. I'm kinda shocked it hasn't come up before. I guess because you have to use blink to get past the green lock to get the regular key and trigger it. Fixed it on the master, thanks for catching.

... Whoops. That should be an easy fix at least. Thanks.

Ditto on this one.
