This was a much better quest than Link's Generic Quest, so you're definitely on the right track now! This quest was pretty fun and I would call this more of a Metroidvania rather than NES-Style, since it definitely felt more like an exploration quest. And that's one thing I really liked this time round, it felt a lot like Umbral Cloud in a way with the overworld and the dungeons connecting each other. The overall flow felt pretty good and the difficulty balance was decent (though a bit too easy in some parts). Screen design was generally quite good and nice, though there were a number of weird design choices and tile errors, but they aren't too bad.
I do feel like the quest felt a bit too linear in some paths and there was a lack of shortcuts in others. You could probably try to connect your overworld up a bit more by having more shortcuts so that I won't have to constantly backtrack a very long way. Also, I would probably use the interior type for the dungeons instead of NES Dungeons. I say this because I found myself getting stuck in walls quite frequently when going from one screen to another because of how Link constantly walks forward 2-3 tiles when entering the screen. This prevents many weird gameplay bugs.
Overall though, this was quite a good effort and you're definitely getting better. I'm looking forward to seeing more work from you. I'd give this one a 3.5/5, which rounds up to a 4. Good job!

super hard gleeok with 5 hearts no white sword or level 2 armor before super easy walk back and forth and shoot every now and then ghoma
seems legit
apparently you decided locked doors and normal shaped dungeons are too mainstream
the dungeons are so tiny and you only fight the bosses for a heart container... what?
I FOUND A BUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in the volcavern (well played) if you enter the cave just after where you raft across you get a heart piece but then if you walk right you just get stuck in some lava and have to end game and continue. then when you go back to the volcavern you get stuck on the bottom screen.
i literally spent 40 minutes and over 50 tries on that gleeok.
beat ghoma first try
gleeok before ghoma
freaking hard gleeok
before easy af ghoma
i cant get over that
anyway im gonna continue with your quest now, its really cool so far! i found a lot of the heart pieces (that one in the pit area i couldn't figure out how to get to)
for a good dungeon size, look no further than level 9 (tower A) of my first quest. its the largest in the game. maybe its a big larger than average, but its closer than the small dungeons i see in this game. but the small dungeon thing is kinda fun, so i can go to area to area faster. but it feels like im moving too fast. it doesnt feel like im playing a game, it feels like im playing a speedrun.
last thing, please, please add some sort of teleportation system or whistle warp or something to the game. i have to go through areas ive already beaten to get back to an area i need to go to, which takes a long time and is no fun. provide some sort of alternate path at the end of every area that teleports you to the next or last area or something like that. that would be good. or something like that, anything.
ill make a full review when ive beaten the game.
