This is a solid NES-style game with cool custom bosses and a couple cool new items as well. Difficulty is very moderate (I had 8 deaths on the first quest and beat it in about 5 hours, haven't played the 2nd yet). If you like old-school style NES quests where bomb and burn spots are not marked for you it is above average. It gets a little more hype than it deserves as there is nothing terribly remarkable about it IMO. That's not criticism as much as some people say it's an all-time great. It's not, but it's solid if NES quests are your thing. I had fun.

Played the 1st Antiquity quest years ago when it was initially released and loved it. Realized recently that I never played this release's 2nd quest, so I jumped on that, and it was a blast to play.

In a nutshell, this quest is basically as advertised: captures the exploratory feel of the original first quest with some nice innovations (a few new non-boss enemies, many new bosses, a few new items) that still feel "NES-like", if that makes sense.

Only minor gripe is that I wish the 2nd quest was a bit more difficult. There's quite a bit of a difficulty increase from the original Zelda 1st quest to 2nd quest, and the increase in difficulty between the two Antiquity quests is not much. I managed to not find the cross/amulet in the 2nd quest, so that made level 9 more difficult as a result of invisible Like Likes rendering me shield-less.

Great stuff here, 5 stars.

I normally don't finish too many quests on here, but this quest was really good. There was a thread about good NES quests and this one seemed to rank real high with the community, and I agree! It was nothing overly special, but it didn't do any of the bad design decisions (for example push blocks pushable in only one direction) I see so many classic quests fall into and it was genuinely fun.

I only beat the first quest, but may attempt the 2nd quest at a later date! Job well done!

Great quest! I spent all day today beating it. Couldn't find the last three heart containers. Loved the Custom Bosses....especially Ganon in his new state....he's way tougher now. >_<;

I may just LP this on my channel in the near future! :3

PS: Will tackle the 2nd Quest tomorrow. xD

This is a great classic style double quest for those seeking one without the same original overworld. Getting two quests from one file does not compromise quality for quantity either, as the secrets are well hidden in both.

I personally consider the combat of this quest to be slightly easier than that of the original because of the availability of Heart Containers at the start, but this can be an advantage, especially due to the sheer difficulty of the Second Quest of the original. The new enemies, especially the new bosses, add a new twist but are otherwise not too difficult to deal with.

Like the original, keys can be purchased, and there are often more keys than mandatory locked doors especially due to blastable walls. The new custom items add some spice but are ultimately unnecessary to complete the quest.

Overall, this is a wonderful quest, your first since [Insert Quest Title Here]. It is safe to say that you improved your quest making with a larger overworld and four more main dungeons.

This is a very well-done quest. I wanted to come up with some lame catchphrase for it like "Of all the NES-styled quests, this is the NESsiest," but that doesn't do it justice. The dungeons are copypasted the way the rooms are in the original Zelda, and the overworld is also styled the same. It's a lot like a romhack, honestly. The small amounts of scripting do help but they are not really complicated enough to seem like it's out of place. The bouncy armos knight and the level 4 boss for example fit in just fine.

Secrets are on almost every screen, as in Zelda 1. They can get pretty frustrating sometimes, as burning lots of bushes and bombing lots of cliff faces gets old, but ... again it fits the style.

The quest comes with an NSF containing a unique version of the soundtrack. I did like the new main dungeon theme but it did get old after a while -- it's a bit muted and doesn't go anywhere, but I guess that's what background music is supposed to do.

The challenge is around that of the original 2nd quest. That's fine, though I am not a great player and had many deaths. I probably shouldn't have wandered into level 8 while still in the green tunic, however, so those deaths are probably my own fault. :P

Overall, a good quest. Good design, for the most part, and it's fun to explore the world.

(Note that I haven't yet played the Antiquity second quest; I only finished the first one.)

if you like zelda 1, can beat the 2nd quest in your sleep want a bit more extra challenge but not impossible, then this is for you. The custom dugeoun music was good. This quest reminded me of zelda outlands for some reason

MAN! THIS QUEST IS NON-LINEAR, I HATE QUESTS LIKE THAT, EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE!
This is a really good quest. For a classic quest, it's very well designed, played it all the way through. I loved level 1!
The enemies are also well designed. They look like as if they were in a Zelda game.
I really recommend it for people looking for a NES-style quest.
