Welcome to On the Green, the PureZC monthly newsletter.Staff Note
- PureZC will be undergoing some minor updates in the coming week. Replying to reviews will be disabled, and a few security patches will be put in place.
- Zelda Classic 2.50.1 has been released! You can find Windows, Mac, and Linux downloads of this new version in this topic. Kudos to Saffith and the rest of the development team for their hard work!
- The Zelda Classic Expo is less than a month away! Go to this topic for details. Quest entries are due October 24th, and the event begins on October 26th.
- We regret to share some bad news. Teilyr, a former PureZC Adminstrator, has recently passed away. He has contributed a lot to PureZC during its early days as a site that went from a small ZC resource community to what it is today. He is also known for his Chain of Destiny Tileset, a relic of the 1.92 era. If you have words to share, you may do so either here or here.

Welcome to the fifth edition of On The Green! This will be my last edition hosting it, as I will be retiring from my staff position very soon. However, I do plan to still contribute to portions of these newsletters after my retirement, in much the same way that Aevin, LinktheMaster, and nicklegends have contributed to all the issues thus far. One or more administrators will take over the role as the host. Plans are still in the works on who that will be.Community Digest

- ZCast is a new stream and podcast hosted by LinktheMaster and DCEnygma, discussing Zelda Classic, video games, movies, and more! Interviews with other PureZC members are now also included, starting with the third podcast. The first show began August 23rd, and is broadcasted live on Saturdays at 2pm EST. Welcome to the third edition of PureZC's monthly newsletter!Staff Notes
- After careful consideration, the forum rules were updated to better improve on the deeper meaning and intent of member harassment. As such, rule 2 was revised to speak to the importance of respecting each other as both members of the forum and as human beings in general. Everyone on PureZC is equal and is entitled to be able to be themselves and express themselves in a way that does not harm anyone else, and we wanted to make sure the rules better reflected this intent. If you have any questions regarding this change, please feel free to ask a staff member or post in the On The Green thread in the Announcements forum.
- For those that haven't noticed, there was a slight reorganization of the scripting forums. With the old script database obsolete, we have moved all of the old unmigrated entries to the Old Script Database and made is so that Scripting Discussion is the main forum with Script Requests as a subforum.
- The Fall 2014 expo has been announced to start on October 26th. You can view the announcement thread for more information.
Hot Items
- Firebird Tileset by Supindahood: A beautiful new tileset meant to capture the ease of use of the GB tilesets with more detailed graphics. It's unfinished, but you can still take a look at their first official release.
- Instrumentality Tileset by Moosh: A classic-based tileset with many new tiles and palettes, providing a lot of flexibility.
- Throwback by superpatch13: This challenging quest features some unique bosses and environments, and generated a lot of activity in its forum thread.

Random Quest Spotlight
Exile in Grumville by dcsyxx
For people who may want to play a simpler NES-style quest, Exile in Grumville is a good quest for you. It's a standard eight-dungeon, eight-triforce quest, but according to the reviews, it's entertaining with lots of nice puzzles and a good difficulty curve. Definitely check it out if you're interested in a quest like Zelda 1!
Current and Upcoming Contests
- Screenshot: Challenge Accepted - Vote in #51 - Dungeon Screens with an Exterior Element, Submit to #52 - Tileset Recreation: Firebird screen in Koten, or Koten screen in Firebird
- Map of the Month - Vote in #53, Submit to #54 - due at the end of this month

With some great new tilesets available lately, the questmaking toolbox has certainly extended itself! If you wish for some new graphics, take advantage by checking them out. Our resources don't make quests on their own, but they certainly help in the process. Whether you're a designer or a player, there is always an adventure to go on!

- There is now an unofficial PureZC Skype group run by Charizard, DaviAwesome, EddyTheOliveira, and Nexas. Check this topic for info on how to join.
- If Skype isn't your thing, you can always stop by the PureZC chat room. As an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel, it can be a little tricky to use, but it works on pretty much all systems. You can access it through the Java applet (under the Community tab), or by downloading and setting up an IRC client such as mIRC or XChat. The channel is open 24/7 and tends to be pretty active. Lots more info is available here.
The next PureZC Expo will be taking place this fall. Stay tuned for future news entries for details on its date, the submission deadline, and more. Until then, keep on questing!
