Description
This is an update from the original version that was done in the original 8bit NES Style. The 16bit style I selected was from a non-password protected quest. "Sorry"
Story
In a parallel world known as Shamanock, a great king rules his kingdom high in the sky. One day the evil wizard Ganon appeared and stole the kingdoms most valuable treasure, the tri-coins. King Bellthanar, the ruler of this great kingdom sets out to find a hero that will help him regain his kingdom. He soon arrives in Hyrule where he meets princess Zelda and the great hero Link. King Belthanar tells Link and Zelda that Ganon has taken over his kingdom. Link must now wander the lost wilderness known as "the land of Shakara" for the first four tri-coins that Belthanar has taken from Ganon. Then enter the gateway to the parallel world of Shamanock and recover the other four stolen tri-coins. Then defeat Gannon at Belthanar's "Castle in the Sky."

Warning: Major rant.
There are many, many things that went wrong in this quest. There's multitudes of bugs, mostly game-breaking bugs:
For example, Link can get stuck in the water after playing the Flute in many screens on both Overworlds. You'll have to quick reset to get out of the water. It's also possible to get stuck in both overworlds...again leading to the player hitting F6.
There were also a lot of major inconveniences that made the quest a chore to play through. Blindly burning bushes with only the blue candle is just the tip of the badly designed iceberg that The Realm of Shamanock DX is. I assume there's no red candle in this quest. If I did, it's likely it was hidden somewhere in an obscure, easy-to-miss place.
The screen designs are also badly thought out. With the Newfirst tileset and having Deluxe at the end of the quest, you'd expect a drastic improvement over the original. Instead, it makes the quest worse. The colours are off in the overworld, complete with an eye-straining design.
Then comes the dungeon design. This is where the quest takes a very wrong turn. As mentioned above, burning bushes in dungeons with only the Blue Candle is just one of the many reasons why many gave up on this quest. Not gonna lie, I almost gave up at many times in this quest, but somehow, I managed to make it to the end of the game. Yeah, the quest's 10+ years old, but it doesn't excuse for the unimpressive quality.
In the near future, it shouldn't be too much trouble to test your quest for bugs, glitches and other inconveniences before releasing it to the public. Frustrating many players with no reward, and no direction on where to go next just goes to show what effort went into the quest.
Overall, if you want to play this quest, do yourself a favor and play Shamanock Advance. It's a marked improvement over this quest.

Do not, under any circumstances, play this quest.
This is the worst completed quest in PureZC's database.
This quest shows almost no effort. It shows that this was basically a sloppy conversion of the original quest from a classic tileset over to Newfirst, and ... honestly there is nothing good about this. The overworld is extraordinarily bland, and so badly designed that I wonder if it even WAS designed in the first place.
There is no evidence that this quest was tested in the slightest. You should probably be tested after playing this quest. For a horrible disease. That this quest may have given you.
The music is atrocious. The worst possible MIDI selections that were still recognizable as Zelda themes are used.
You may think "Hey, it's a legendarily bad quest with really bad ratings, I'll play it because it's so bad." This is not one of those situations where the content in question is so bad that it is good. This is off-the-charts bad. This quest is so bad that it borders on being malware. This quest will cause you to question reality and the value of humanity's continued survival. This quest may damage your sanity.
Avoid at all costs.
