Description
The Revival is a remake (or reimagining, if you prefer) of a much older quest I was making nearly 25 years ago in 2001, Link's Adventure. It also serves as a loose tribute to PrinceMSC's The Revenge 2nd Quest.
It's also a modern demonstration of the capabilities of 1.90, although it's not really in the vein of something like Bikdip's Adventure 2. It's a fairly standard 8 dungeon quest. It might lack a lot of features you've come to expect from modern quests, but I hope the level design is engaging enough to make up for it.
It's slightly more difficult than average, although I wouldn't call it a challenge quest (or "Type B", or "Kaizo"...). Some knowledge of the particulars of the way Zelda Classic's items behave is expected going in. This quest also won't hold your hand or telegraph secrets to you in obvious ways. Most major equipment upgrades are well hidden. As such, I can't really recommend this to novice Zelda Classic players or players looking for an easy time.
This quest should work fine in any version of Zelda Classic. 1.90 is preferable, but this quest has been tested in both 2.55 and 3.0 as well, and should work fine in either. It is worth noting, however, that certain enemy behaviors (e.g. Goriya boomerang throws) are slightly more aggressive in 2.55 and later versions.
Hope you have fun with this quest!

Story
There's not that much of a story, really, and what little story there is can be inferred from the game's world. Still, if you really want one, here it is:
The world around you has been slowly dying. It is the work of the Beast. They say the Beast is an apparition like none before it. If this course continues, the Beast will destroy the entire world.
You must gather the Triforce to gain the power to enter its lair, so that you may revive this dying world.

Tips & Cheats
The blue candle, small wallet, golden arrow and Master Sword are not obtainable in this quest.
There are only sixteen heart containers total. You start with 3 heart containers. There's 8 as rewards for beating bosses, and there's 1 full heart container hidden in the overworld. That leaves 16 heart pieces (4 heart containers' worth) scattered throughout the world.
You'll want to be diligent in checking your map. With the exception of Level 9, you don't have to go outside of the marked map to find any rooms in a dungeon.
Many secrets and paths forward involve going through cave networks, so check caves frequently.
Both of the major cave networks have maps. The boundaries of these maps are self-contained. That is, if you're outside the marked portion of the map in a cave, you're in a cave network that isn't connected to the main network.
Some bomb walls may be hidden with no visual cues indicating their existence (i.e. cracks). For these, you'll want to infer where they are from context.
The Light Arrow required to defeat the Beast is in a unique, non-numbered dungeon. You'll want to get it before entering Level 9.
