I feel that this quest is heavily overrated.
The overworld sure looks pretty, but in fact most of the islands are very linear and simple in structure. You will face the constant lack of resources, especially bombs, which you will need literally hundreds. The puzzles are all "use every item on every object in a room with no clues" type. Small claustrophobic rooms are stuffed with dozens on enemies, with no place to stand.
For all these reasons the game feels more irritating and tedious than entertainig.
Maybe it's just not for me.

I avoided this game like the plague for many years for a few reasons. First, it says to play this in v1.92. As it turns out, it works just fine in 2.50. I had no problems. Secondly, there were some other reviews that said things like "The overworld is amazing but the dungeons were terrible." I couldn't disagree more - I loved the dungeons. I wish I had played this game much earlier. The overworld, however, IS amazing!

Exploration is the heart of Zelda for me, or at least one (lol), and this quest has that in spades. The overworld and exploring is amazing, me and my brother had insane fun finding all the secrets. The dungeons weren't as good, but the real soul of the game is in the overworld so they were ok. Great game!
