Description
Starting development in 2017, this is a rebuild of my first quest, released in 2013. The original does not need to be replayed in any way to enjoy this one.
Features:
- A moderately high difficulty curve, emphasizing combat and understanding your items more than traditional puzzle solving.
- 8x8 Overworld with numerous secrets to find, split into 3 core sections.
- 4 main dungeons, 3 side dungeons.
- Optional progression that can allow you to deviate from the intended route and do things out of order.
- 3 different armors to choose from, each with their own boons.
- A money making minigame that distinguishes itself from gambling minigames in other quests.

Changelog
Changes made since the 2024 Expo:

- Various bosses and mini-bosses have been adjusted. (Primarily, each main dungeon boss now resists bombs to prevent cheesing those fights.)
- Various typos and minor bugs have been fixed.
- A bug involving pits and water has been resolved.
Changes made since 4/11/2025:
- Slight color change to a sprite in the ending
- Buffed Purple Tunic to raise power by 1, and dialogue is altered to reflect this.
- Changed Goriya's boomerangs to real boomerangs
- Changed level 4 continue point
- Fixed a typo with one of the knights (there's more I forgot to fix but also forgot where it was.)
- Fixed a minor cutscene error.
- Fixed alignments with a bombable wall in level 1
- Changed enemies in a level 4 puzzle room
- Changed a level 4 trap just a bit to be less mean
- Fixed teleportor bug in Dragonblade Castle

Story
The grandfather of a young boy by the name of Tink has asked of him to travel across the land of Nostalrul in order to collect the 3 Shining Prisms, objects of strong magical properties, in order to prevent calamity upon the land. With little time to spare, Tink sets up, his sword in hand, to fulfill his grandfather's wish.
Tips & Cheats
Spoiler
- If you enter the sewer after you complete the Moblin Hideout, you can get a key and there are two lock blocks. Taking the top lock will net you a heart piece, and taking the down lock will lead you to an alternate route, allowing you to play the quest out of order. Level 3 is significantly harder than Level 2, so this is not reccomended for new players, however, it is good for those who would like a challenge. You can also instead use this alternate route to gain access to the Nostalrul City shops significantly earlier as well, prepping you further for Level 2. The 2nd key in the sewer can be accessed after beating Level 3, allowing the Heart Piece to be obtained regardless of what route you take.
- Halfway through the quest, you will gain access to a gambling minigame. This is the single best way to get rupees in the quest if you master the minigame, so it's well worth your time to bungle around with.
- MAKE sure you get one of the armors as soon as you can. These make the quest significantly simpler to complete. More information about the costumes can be learned by talking to the owner of the clothing store as well as her girlfriend at the town square.

Very interesting quest, this was one of my first experiences with modern quest mechanics and production. The custom items were fun to play around with, and having the Roc's Feather and 4 action buttons made a lot of combat and maneuverability options available to the player. It was satisfying to pull off a tricky maneuver, but at the same time, I wasn't a huge fan of the precision platforming in some later segments. This comes down to personal taste, however. The worldbuilding was excellent, and left me curious about the wider setting, with some areas being teased which may make an appearance in the sequel. Overall, there is a very high level of polish and deliberateness about the design and execution here -- it's easy to recommend this quest for the intermediately skilled player. Be prepared for some surprises!

This quest is absolutely oozing quality from every angle. You can really tell that so much attention to detail was paid to anything that was touched. I've never seen a lot of the graphics that were used, and they really added a lot to the experience. I'm very grateful that four items could be slotted to a button at a time, as it greatly contributed to overall playability. Everyone loves quality of life features, after all.
It's a short quest, so it respects your time, but you'll have a heck of a time with it.

For as short as this was and considering it was a "Rebuild" of an existing quest, I thoroughly enjoyed this quest. While I do not recall if I ever played the original, on this one, I feel the music selected for each area fit nicely, the difficulty scaled adequately (except for maybe the twin Death Knights you fight for the boss key in one level) , and the lore/story that was given while still leaving some things to be questioned, gave out just enough to leave me wanting more. Overall it was a amazing quest and I hope you do intend to make a sequel. I would love to play it once it release if you do. 5 Stars is where I stand on this. Nicely done.
