Originally created for (and winner of) the Vintage Dreams 2 Contest, Novel Ruins Gaiden is a small sequel to the original Journey into the Novel Ruins. You don't have to play the first one to enjoy this one though!

Played the contest version.
The quality of this quest exceeds any expectations one may have from a contest miniquest made in a month by a single person. I think it may be considered not a mini, but a full-fledged ZC quest.
I see this quest not as a dungeon romper, but rather as a set of various activities, with dungeons being only one of them. The player always has multiple different tasks and objectives in mind, such as treasure hunting, rupee management, arena fights, which creates strong motivation and a feeling of excitement.
I like how small and compact the world is, with almost no empty or unnecessary space.
The quest has not so many puzzles, the ones present are mostly based on text interpretation, and are generally fair and well made.
Bosses are complex and really hard if you fight them out of intended order (as I did), especially the boss of the ice-dungeon. So better leave this one for later!
I consider interconnected dungeons a potentially interesting idea, but in this game it is kinda underdeveloped, there is no particular point or motivation to use inter-dungeon passages.
It took me about 7-8 hours to beat all the content, including the secret boss, although I'm not so sure about the exact number.
Also, one of the coziest towns I've ever seen in videogames.
