(This quest is much, much simpler than my others.)

Made it to Level 99 before I game overed but this is such a cool and unique idea. I would've never thought I'd see Zelda be turned into an arcade game like this but it works so so well. It's certainly on the easy side but that's not really a problem because the charm is what makes this honestly. The levels are all built in such a unique way with their own mini puzzles and battles and it's just a genius thing to see tbh. If I grew up with arcade machines I'd definitely play the hell out of this.

I wasn't sure whether to make this a review per say or a comment, but once more, even for such a small quest, your brilliance and creativity regarding "what-if" scenarios shines through. What if we never got Donkey Kong and Mario never took off- what if we got this instead? Simple, and fun, though I can't even get past Level 3 without cheats, haha. I'm very bad at this, but have had a blast with it regardless.
In an odd roundabout way, this also feels like a precursor to the Zelda Game & Watch. In fact, I'm already starting to consider it to be a prequel of sorts. I'm a rather oddball theorist who tends to incorporate well done fanstuff into my collective canon, so I'mma shove this in right before my placement of Zelda G&W.

This is funny, and clever, and definitely does what I think you set out to do. Like old school arcade games though, it needs to get harder faster. I played through about 50 levels, and 5 gannons, before I just got bored and wanted to do something else. I would rather as you get into the 20s and 30s you start getting killed. I instead was gaining lives faster than I was losing them and even my losses were usually because I got impatient and sloppy as opposed to my reflexes or skills being particularly tested. It's too easy but as someone who grew up in arcades (I'm old) both the concept and execution are fun.
