An ambitiously sized and difficult quest!
I thought the overworld and dungeons looked great, and really liked the different tileset used. It felt really emo in the very best sense of the word; rich, cartoony and colorful. it was all very detailed with secrets everywhere.
This one was super non linear by design. While I can appreciate the concept quests like this inherently have a slower pacing, which I don't particularly care for. With this type of format there is a lot of trial and error exploring and backtracking until you find something you can complete. Some dungeons were hard and some were much harder, but you had to invest time into each one to find out if you could do it. It left me with a lot of open ends, partially completed dungeons and a good amount of frustration. For me it wasn't very gratifying. It all kind of killed the flow.
I think the issues above were compounded by being woefully underpowered for a long time. I thought the sword and armor upgrades were presented way too late in the quest. I often found myself hacking away at enemies with a lot of hit points. Also not gratifying. Especially in some of the harder dungeons where there were tough fast moving enemies, complex puzzles and then random things like wallmasters dropping in. Places where you needed to clear a room before you could even get to the puzzles. A sword upgrade between the wooden sword and the master sword sure would have been nice.
Some of the areas were a bit long winded and tedious, like the cursed waters and royal valley/ dungeon. I could have used a little less of those. They felt a little contrived and "hard for the sake of being hard".
I made it pretty far into the quest but ultimately lost interest and stopped playing. It became more frustrating than fun. Overall it was very well done. I know a ton of people enjoy quest like this but it just wasnt for me, and thats ok!

Having made quests for 12 years up to this point, this quest marks my 20th solo quest. So what better way to celebrate this than to remake my very first quest? It's kind of crazy to see how far I've come along in 12 years, but here we are, finally a new quest is out lol.
