I love puzzle quests, so Ruins of Myths delivers in my opinion. RoM is somewhat-Yeto like - in terms of necessitating a lot of evasion and trials before one can get the sword, as well as in terms of requiring lots of careful observance and trial-and-error solutions - but manages to do so without being obtuse or unfair in any way. While your character will be vulnerable a lot of the time, the enemy challenges aren't so much that you will constantly game over. Be prepared to come across obstacles that require novel solutions, but don't worry about Yeto-like tedium such as crossing maze-like dark caves. This is one of those quests where nothing seems to be there "just because," and does have a purpose - even if that purpose is not immediately obvious. That principle is especially evident in the dungeon (the ruins) where the way to open the path to the final boss is far from obvious or straight forward.
In terms of gripes, I consider the final boss to be over-buffed in terms of HP. It's possible I just wasn't using the best offensive strategy, but the fight took at least 5 minutes longer than it should have. The ending is also pretty bland and uninspired, and I found at least two of the items useless to the point of being fluff.
Of course, those gripes rather pale into the enjoyment factor I received from playing through, and I enjoyed figuratively scratching my head in order to navigate the way through.
