Super fun! An extremely well done quest. It has all the quality of life upgrades the original Z1 doesn't have. It feels modern and is reallly smooth.
I liked the moderate difficulty and the zippy gameplay. It gave the quest great pacing and momentum. It kept the party rolling without too many "stuck" spots.
I also liked all the weapons, items and upgrades. I'm usually annoyed by the 'find the sword' schtik, but the magic cane proved to be an awesome new addition that got more fun as it progressed.
Thanks so much for the quest!

Information
A Zelda1 style with more modern conveniences! New overworld! New Dungeons! A callback to the NES era more in the ways of nostalgia tinted glasses than what it actually was!
This quest is a must play for players who wish to relive their memories and nostaliga for The Legend of Zelda, but who consider the original game too cumbersome to replay.

Quest completed 5:34 with 13 deaths. Decent.
I do want to point out some positives and negatives from this quest.
I do like that you intentionally removed certain items from the game, forcing us to rethink how to navigate certain rooms. A breath of fresh air for veterans.
I also like that extra key trick to get into the next level.
I really like the clever use of Zelda 2 sprites in this game. That alone will distance this game from the others.
I did have to get used to the cane being the primary weapon.
Plenty of shops to find. Good.
I liked the music.
It's rare to collect a Triforce piece without facing a boss, but I did.
And now the negatives
I don't like how some dungeon secrets were hidden. The clue regarding some levels have rooms off the map just means wasting bombs trying to find which dungeons have off-map rooms in them. I definitely didn't like that there was no more substantial clues regarding finding a key item needed to reach later levels. If it wasn't for the forum, I probably would have rage-quit. One big solution to this is to create an obstacle to reach the boss. For example, hookshot across a damaged section of the floor to reach the boss which means you have to search the level more thoroughly to find said hookshot within the level.
Big cardinal sin here... NEVER put a map behind a locked door... at least not by itself. You can put another valuable item with it, helpful information, or just connect it to more dungeon to explore.
Overall, a solid submission. Well done.
