Is the sun about to explode? Is that why it's abnormally shaped and discolored?

It doesn't look like a sun at all, it looks like a Wind Waker polygon. As other have said the sun would not have shading, and it shold be a lot brighter... The water also lacks a sence of distance...

Erk... the sun is what creates shadows, and is itself a gaint ball of light... it would basically be yellow on the inside and very very small laye of a darker color bordrign that followed by another light shade. That should do it. This however isent that impressive. Sorry.
