I really enjoyed playing this quest until defeating the super boss. I also played Caelan Mode, of course. But I felt some areas and some parts are a bit malicious even in the main game. As for the story, I worried I couldn’t enjoy it because I already saw some spoilers in the FA trio story of Yuurand. But I was actually glad to see their past.

I really wasn't sold on this at first. The platforming doesn't quite work right all the time (especially the grappling hook, it's extremely touchy and never does what it should), the writing is really cheesy and the character interactions don't really make a whole lot of sense, but it grew on me. All of it did, even if the characters are dumb I still like them, even if the platforming is awkward it's still a genuine effort to do something new with the engine and can get pretty dang good in some of the postgame challenges, the towers are a cool way to send off each zone with a real test of skill, and most of the bosses are really solid battles.
I can't help but wonder how much better this could be as a standalone game without the restrictions of ZC and the messiness that resulted from those restrictions, but as it is I can definitely say I'd recommend people play it.

So, with this playthrough, it's twice I've beaten this game; first when it was released as v1.0, and just now with the postgame content. Like most have said, this is a very unique experience. A fully engined sidescroller, with elements way different to default Zelda Classic, Forbidden Ascent is truly worth playing. Great job to all three of you guys, this quest is something!
But again, I still hate you for that punishment on Challenges #19 and 20.
